The stros were rumored yesterday to be after a larger deal with the Padres for Ross, Kimbrel, maybe Upton or someone else too?

Looks like Luhnow is lining up deals for a RP right up until the deadline and will leverage them against each other.

I may be wrong but I love having the feeling that our GM is smarter than the GM on the other end of the telephone almost 100% of the time.

Lol imagine if Luhnow is just like **** it

Give me Votto too. I can make this team amazing while I build up the farm system back up (already have thanks to this years draft class).

Wouldn't be surprised to see Fiers involved in a deal with SD that involves Ross and Kimbrel

Would be a great park for Fiers, he is cheaper than Ross and controlled for two extra years. If they have any interest in guys like Fiers and Jake, that could at least lessen the amount of prospects we have to include

    Aroldis = Rolaids?

This is a sign...he provides relief!

Haha! I was just thinking the same thing.

I'd be happy with Fiers in the Astros' rotation for the next 2-3 years OR with dealing him this afternoon. OPTIONS, BABY!!!

The WHIP is higher because he's already walked as many batters as last season and his BABIP is .50 points higher this season.

    it's worth next to nothing.

off year whip-wise, and his era is 1.65.

he's a flame-throwing strikeout pitcher. that's a recipe for a bumped up whip, low era, if they are a stud, which he is.

pretty sure the stros are aware of that stat.

Yea that is what makes this afternoon so awesome

If we make another big deal, that's great

If we make a smaller deal today, that's great

If we do nothing else, that's great too!!!!

Mentioned this last night...if they trade for Ross, Fiers or McHugh is likely gone.

    C Castro / Conger
    1B Carter / Valbuena / Gonzalez
    2B Altuve / Gonzalez
SS Correa / Gonzalez / Lowrie
    3B Lowrie / Valbuena / Gonzalez
    LF Tucker / Rasmus
    CF Gomez / Marisnick
    RF Springer / Rasmus

    SP Keuchel
    SP Kazmir
    SP McCullers
    SP McHugh
    SP Feldman / Fiers

    RP Velazquez
    RP Fields
    RP Sipp
    RP Harris
    RP Neshek
    RP Gregerson

    Highly regarded prospects:
    SP Appel
    UT Kemp
    1B Singleton
    3B Moran
    SP Musgrove
    1B Reed
    OF Fisher
    OF Cameron
    OF Tucker
    SS Bregman
    SP Martes

Looking at our overall picture, it is no surprise that Phillips was traded, as much as it hurts. We now have fantastic depth both in the infield and outfield, as well as bats at all minor league levels.

I think it's clear that if we are serious about making a title run this year, we need a dominant reliever. Chapman or Kimbrel would be perfect. The question is, what do you give up? Personally, I am not comfortable giving up Appel for a reliever making big $$, but it might be necessary.

Regardless, we have said for months now that we have too much depth in the minors. It sucks to see interesting prospects go, but Luhnow is going about this exactly as we have all said he should - clearing out prospect depth for big league contributors during a title run. Bravo.
