Well I make a habit of getting to know cities and their culture when I follow them. Lets say keeping tabs with the Astros is a part of that. I also hate the Angels so please please keep winning
As a fellow Aussie I say jump on, purely Rockets/Texans/Astros for me! Have copped crap the last few years wearing my Astros gear, feels good now.
I'm a mad nationals fan for better or worse, have been since the years they totally stunk it up. Assume by the username you're also a Fremantle fan?
Yes it is, Congrats to all that stuck it out through the hard times. Maybe the Texans can look at Luhnow and learn how to properly build a team.
fortunately for us, BOB is doing that. texans will get there soon. they're building the right way. we all know QB is the main missing piece, but i digress. this is the astros forum.
Agree. I remember when i visited Houston 3 years ago to watch my team play the A's. They won the 3 games and we did not play good, Coco killed us and we are not in the same league with the team. Friends living in Houston laughed at me saying the Astros were awful and i remember telling them, we are going to be very good in no time, we have some good young guys coming up in a couple of years. I believe in re building. I was not happy with the Astros because they did not wanted to do it that way, re building. They were trying to compete with few very good players, or old players past their prime and a very weak farm system. I wanted to trade them all, and get prospects. Before Luthnow came, that started to happen, but it was never a COMPLETE rebuilding process, and thats why we did not do much on those years. Luthnow came, and that started to happen, start from scratch and build your minors. I am a fan of prospects, i think thats the way you build teams, like the Yankees did when they won it all (Jeter, Mariano, Posada, Bernie, Pettitte, Cano) and get some FA or trades to make a champion. When we were good, the same happened, Biggio, Berkman, Oswalt, Lidge, Burke, and even Bagwell who never played in the majors for another team (thank you Larry Anderson). Now, the same Correa, Springer, McCullers, K, VV, Tucker, Altuve, Castro, your core of players come from your system, and you sign some FA or get talent through trades. Luthnow did it the right way, the way i like, re building instead of re tooling. How long has been with the Yankees doing something? They dont have that core of players, only Gardner? Astros are going to be very good for a long time as our core players are young and very good. We went through tough times, but it was always fun following the prospects in the minors. Goooo Astros
I don't know what pujols is talking about. He didn't even get to face the eliminator, feldman and the Ace, dallas. we could possibly win another pitcher of the month award here in july and still have 2 months of baseball left =)
Wow, I knew they were playing good at home, but 29-7 over the past 36 games is incredible. Second best home record in MLB if I'm not mistaken (Cardinals).
Who was the crazy blonde sitting behind the plate last night? I think she was snorting meth the way she clapped, bounced and hooted for every Astro strike and out. She looked like Sideshow Bob with a cap on.
Great series. Crowds are starting to show. Angels have missed Keuchel the last 2 series. Stros just need to sow up their road woes. Haven't won many series away since April/May. I think they'll figure it out. Go Stros!!
Oh yeah, those seats were great. One of my favorite days was a doubleheader against the Dodgers. Why they were playing a DH I have no idea. Left work around noon and sat out there for the first game, there was *nobody* around, it was a bit weird. Piazza hit a BOMB off of Wagner to dead center, no arc just a ridiculous line drive that had not started to come down when it landed in the Mezzanine (grey seats). One of, if not the, hardest hit balls I've ever seen.
