You watching ESPN's trade show? :p

Buster: Spoke with an exec. who said of all the teams who improved [the most] it has been Houston. He said Houston have pushed themselves to the point where they're better than the Angels.

Stark: This tells me they're worried about Springer's hip. (Yes, he said hip.)

Bowden: I heard they're talking to the Padres about bullpen help. Luhnow said we're not done, we're still talking.

Law: Only impact guy is Brett Phillips. ... One scout said light Brett Gardner. If that pans out, above average player. Everyone else is less than that.

Why would Springer not make it back? He certainly wasn't acting last night like a player who is thinking he's out for the year.

He broke a bone in his hand that doesn't normally get broken.

He will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks.

Once it's removed he needs an additional 2-3 weeks to make it a full recovery.

This is the speculation so far.

So if its speculation, I'm just not reading anything into trading for Gomez other than it improves the major league team.

We were both responding to a poster who mentioned Norris as a return.

That is the definition of "much" of a return.

    But I digress.

I think he is a strong number 4 starter

If anything, if the Astros feel Springer’s done for the year, they would probably just sit back rather than push the chips in further. This move clearly indicates the Astros think they can win the division, which would be only possible if Springer returns in due time. Perhaps they’re overly optimistic about Springer, but at least they clearly think he’ll be back.

Luhnow isn't worried... said they're looking forward to him coming back and teaming up with Gomez in the OF.

Bones heal (unless they're "stress" fractures caused by excessive size/weight)... his hand/wrist will heal.

Who gets sent down with the two new players added? That outfield is crowded. Jake, Preston, Colby, George, Evan, now Carlos.

Luhnow already talked about Marisnick and Gomez playing together... I doubt it will be him.

Singleton would be easier to send down since he still has minor league options.

Agreed. Just gotta hope they have something in the works sending out Carter...or Singleton I suppose, if necessary

Jim Crane: "When we first started the project we were under a lot of heat for what we were doing. People can now see the logic in the plan. With that deep of a system without jeopardizing the future you've got enough talent 2 draw n some key ingredients when you have an opportunity to make a run like this. That was always the goal."

McHugh has a higher % of QS than Feldman and pitches more innings in those starts. McHugh also has a lower ERA and WHIP, with a higher strikeout rate. In no way is Feldman better than McHugh, nor is he more consistent.

His advanced statistics, having played college baseball and watching baseball for 30 years and what one of the best defensive outfielders of his era (Gary Pettis)... Or we can rely on what you have to say.
