The touchpad drivers that MS defaults have been faulty even on peoples machines who got the popup balloon. I have already had to help 3 people at work reinstall Asus drivers. It's a pain.
I did wait and had green checkmarks all the way through, thank you very much. For those that tried to help, thanks. I eventually just went into the Control Panel and chose the repair option for the Smart Gesture Center. That seems to have done the trick for now. Google Chrome just isn't working for me anymore though.
That's strange. The only thing you can do is hope your issue is large enough to where Microsoft will put out a quick hotfix. Seems like you're an edge case.
I'm not having any luck. First of all, when I look up the steps, it says to plug your controller using the USB cable it came with to your PC. ???? Uhhh my controller didn't include any wires. Second, I see no option on the left on the Xbox app for PC for "Connect".
^ You can use any micro usb cable. The icon to start the connection process is second to last (right above the settings icon).
Yeah, I tried my phone charger's micro USB cable. I plugged it in and it made a noise but nothing came up. And I know exactly where the connection thing is SUPPOSED to be. Just wasn't there. I appreciate it though.
Thanks... cutting in line and downloading right now. Being an Android user waiting for updates is always hard. Haven't seen this posted yet, from cnet, the "how-to" go back, just in case you don't like W10. http://www.cnet.com/how-to/windows-10-how-to-roll-back/
I'm still waiting for my notification, but the windows icon did show back up for me. I am just wondering if I will get notified if I have the action center setting as manually install updates rather than automatic.
It took about four efforts to download the update. It would download, verify, create windows media, then I'd get an error message pop up. The fourth attempt was the charm and I am I am getting the "Updating Windows" screen with the circular progress icon (now at 26%) and the copying files (865 currently). I don't know what the hitch was... my Windows 7 Professional was all up to date. But if others run into this, I reckon the advice would be to keep trying. I know its only a recommendation and not requirement, but I did back up important files on a zip drive, just in case.
What's been everyone's favorite thing so far? I haven't really gotten into everything yet. The Cortana thing is interesting, but I don't a microphone (using TV as monitor). Microsoft Edge is the new IE? Cortana is a competitor of Siri? Hmmmm...
Cortana is less of a competitor to Siri and more of one to Google Now. Google Now is a lot better than Cortana right now, but with time I think she can catch up. Siri is more of a toy than anything. Edge is a completely new browser from the ground up. Right now it's sort of garbage because it is really underdeveloped.
Cortana has Google Now beat. Functionality wise its not necessarily better, but having it integrated into the taskbar gives it enough convenience for me to use it rather than Google Now.

LOL. I am old... and meant USB storage stick. So far its running fine on my Lenovo x220. It would be nice on a touch screen or convertible but even with a mouse its crisp. Interesting mix of icons (B&W icons for speaker, wifi, etc and then the color app icons. An Android device would be more consistently themed. The one feature that would be the best if I had a display would be Task View that would set up two separate working areas. On my x220's small display it seems a bit silly though.
That and now Cortana will be available on Android and iOS, making her a lot more functional across all your devices. Google Now is a lot better in answering questions without constantly just giving up and doing a web search to answer your question.
