Well, I was 2, so I'm sticking with now. :)

    '86 was awesome though.

The city's first professional championship (coinciding with the dawn of the internet/modern media age) has to trump all.

And I presume whenever the Texans win... that will trump all previous accomplishments simply because football is THAT much bigger.

Very true, I was more going for all the teams being title contenders at once and that's the only period I could think of in the city's history. For the vast majority of us, our memories of sports and our rooting allegiances were formed with those Rockets title teams. I was very spoiled growing up seeing the Oilers run off playoff appearances and having Olajuwon dominate. Made you think it's really easy when in fact it's not.

Yeah... that's why I thought 1994 was key... not only did it feature the first championship, but the Oilers were still good (for the last time), and the Astros started becoming good.

When is the last time all 3 major Houston teams made the playoffs the same calendar year?

It could definitely happen this year.

Pretty easy to tell that its never happened... since Baseball is the biggest limiting factor being the hardest to make the playoffs... and when the Astros were making it every season in the 90's, Houston was without a football team.

1994 is the closest as the Astros could have made it without the strike.

Oilers won 2 games in the calendar year of 1994. You can't count the 1993 season as part of 1994 when no one else does.

The Texans didn't make it in 2014 and won't be able to make it in 2015 (playoffs usually start in January).

But if they had won the Super-Bowl that year, it would have been in 1994. Which calendar year do you apply for the Rockets?

Going into that summer (as the Rockets were winning it all, and the Astros were making a push to win the division) the Oilers were a "reigning playoff team".... thus it would have been the best chance for all 3 winning teams at the "same time."

All three could win it all in the next couple of years.

    Go Houston!

True. I seemed to (mis)remember the Wildcard round starting in late December, but now I see it's early January.

    Thanks, Obama.

Warren Moon was traded in April of 1994. I'm a huge Baylor fan, but Cody Carlson?

    We're splitting hairs/semantics.

I associate the 1993-94 Oilers with the 1993-94 Rockets... their seasons coincided with epic winning streaks, plenty of overlap of games, and they both finished play in the same calendar year.

I do not associated the 1993-94 Oilers with the 1992-93 Rockets team that lost against Seattle.

No..i was confused. I said he picked off Steve Young in the end zone...for some reason I remember that as him scoring a TD. I do remember he threw it up into the stands.

Shout out to the season ticket holders in Section 214 who failed to show up to the game and let me sit in their seats. Had a blast!

Not to Hijack, but if Mallet or Hoyer can play their best version of Matt Hassleback(in his prime) then they may be dangerous.

This team will be special if Cushing comes close to OverTrained Cush his rook year.

The reason there is no hockey team in houston is because of timing. No team available when someone wanted to bring a team to the city, or the person controlling the arena didnt want the hockey team in town (for competitive reasons). That is why you are clueless. It has never been about demographics......DUMBASS.
