Hear, hear. It goes without saying that it is hoped thatLawson get over his personal problems for good, and truly appreciates the golden opportunity basketball has given him. If he gets his act cleaned up, this team has a chance to be extraordinaire good. Lawson smooths the rough edges we had last year and with addition of Bev and D-MO, there is no reason this team could not win 60+ games this season.
Lawson is relentless going to the rim. Going to be a thing of beauty watching him and Harden attacking that rim.
Oh the possibilities.... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ODPgg3dopg0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It's gonna be fun watching the opposing PGs actually have to play defense every night. And right after Lawson is done wearing them out on the defensive end, along comes Bev who will make life hell for them at the other end of the floor.
I still have trouble comprehending that the Rockets got Ty Lawson... and got him for nothing. It still hasn't really sunken in.
Well a lottery protected first round pick, but I guess when you throw in we were able to get rid of a lot of dead weight then yeah its all gravy for the Rockets
Yeah I try to think of it like they traded down 5-10 spots in exchange for lawson on an expiring contract. I keep thinking that's an impossible trade.
Yes as of now it is...but for purposes of thinking of his contract like an asset he's virtually an expiring since the last year isn't guaranteed. The option makes him a great flexible asset. Team could chose to go either way
If someone had predicted this exact trade last year, they would have been laughed off the board. The more I think about it, other than trading for Harden, the is Morey's biggest steal.
Very good point. People throw up trade ideas that get labeled "pipe dreams", but sometimes they happen. Stars get traded for below market value all the time when certain circumstances come up. Rockets were able to get TMAC when he forced his way out of Orlando. They key, is to always have a good team to appeal to those stars when they shake loose. AND have the "flexibility" to make trades happen. Morey keeps the Rockets in this space.
Can't overstate the importance of flexibility. DM is the master at it...hands down the best in basketball. So many naïve posters on this forum fail to recognize this....you can find unlimited criticism of DM because he didn't do this or that...all the while he is just lying in the weeds waiting on his opportunity target.
He's built a top 5 team in the NBA (only GSW, SAS, LAC, CLE could be better than us) while maintaining the opportunity to go hard after KD next year. Say what you want about Morey and his committment to flexibility but I can't see the Rockets ever hitting rock bottom for as long as he's GM. Amazing.
We got Ty Lawson for scraps. L-O-L Next year is gonna be one hell of a season. Been through about 10 of his highlight mix tapes and can't believe this is our PG. FINALLY.
