Installed and customized on my SP3 and it is incredible! The best features I like about it: - Multiple dekstops! - easy to learn trackpad/finger gestures; refined idea of charms that is now more in-line with typical Windows logicality and location - Cortana assistance has become very easy - Edge's note-taking ability - Generally easier to access and manipulate note-taking ability - Logically organized; emphasis on typing straightaway to look for whatever program/file/address you want to get to, saving time on mouse moving & clicking - Very easy to import gmail & google calendar into the local programs - Even simpler data transfer between laptop and any smartphone now - More straightforward transition between laptop mode & tablet mode with the different programs - Snapping windows is much better too I'm a huge fan of the new version It's easy to see how this OS can exist in basically the same capacity across laptops & tablets & phones - can possibly make life a lot simpler I'm not a computer scientist and cannot talk about the structure of the OS, but it runs faster and feels like plenty of work has gone into it
When I click on the Windows logo, a "Get Windows 10" window pops up and the only option it gives me is "Ok, notify me when ready." Does this mean I need to wait for an e-mail, or...?
^ I was in the same boat as you and used this method to "cut in line":http://lifehacker.com/how-to-skip-the-line-and-upgrade-to-windows-10-now-1720854489 Painless. As for windows 10, I have some minor quams that will hopefully get fixed. For example, I'm one of the "dark theme" disciples and I find all the white space in most of the system windows a bit disconcerting. Also the size of the icons don't feel right.
Got it installed, but no gestures are working on my trackpad. Can't even scroll with it right now. Any help?
Go to your laptop manufacturers web site, download their windows 8.1 drivers, and install those. A lot of people are having trackpad driver issues and this is the easiest fix.
Absolutely repped. Do I need to do anything else besides letting the process run? (Uninstall stuff, install other stuff, etc?)
Didn't have an 8.1 Touchpad driver. Tried the Windows 10 one. Says a previous one is already installed when I try to run the setup file. I then tried to delete the Asus Smart Gesture program I already have and it wouldn't let me. This is ridiculous.
Definitely liking it so far. I still use a Mac for my everyday stuff, but for work, I like Windows 10. Very sleek.
How long do I have? I still haven't reserved my Windows 10 install or whatever. Can I do it like mid August?
I blame this solely on American bloodlust culture. Violence and weapons. The only country in the world where there is no sanctuary from crazed white men with guns. 'Murica.
Install. After July 29th, 2016 you will not be able to upgrade for free. Of course if you upgrade beforehand you can still keep Windows 10 for free. No, unless you choose the clean install path. Upgrading will keep your files and applications.
I just tried it, it was great. Once you get past the super straightforward setup, actually starting the stream is really easy. As for the actual gaming experience, I'm going to have to test it further because I was playing in the most ideal circumstances (offline 2k15 exhibition game and direct ethernet connection for the gaming PC and XB1). Having said that, it was pretty much flawless. The real test will be playing an FPS like Halo, online, on an ordinary laptop via Wifi.
Did you unzip the install file for the Asus install? I know it sounds stupid, but apparently if you don't unzip it, it doesn't work if you execute it from the zipped file.
that's why you were supposed to wait until microsoft resolved your computer's compatibility issues. That's probably why you hadn't got the balloon popup yet
