Haha, my bad then. There are definitely some people who think the way you do though, and I admittedly had doubts about the process when it seemed like we just waited for our players to get good to ship them out, and that the rebuild process was never ending.

It's strange how good we are this season really. I actually interned with the Astros for 3 weeks after Winter Break through an interim term program at my school, and people in the Baseball Ops department 'optimistic' predictions for us was being around a .500 ball team this year. Not sure where this seemingly unforeseen success came from!

The Astros are coming off one of the worst stretches in major league history, getting to 31K fans is something to celebrate. This city is not a subpar sports town, it just only shows up en masse for a winner. That's because this is an international and diverse city. Most people living in Houston weren't born here and having rooting interests outside of the local teams. That doesn't make it a subpar sports town, it's just means fans want to see a winner and generally aren't going to give teams their money if they don't win.

Honestly, I still have almost no interest in the Astros, despite them having a great team and all.

Success and star-wise, Houston's present and future are bright indeed.

The reasoning of the list and picking WAS and DAL should've been clear enough for a 12 year old to comprehend, but if you have "no clue", so be it.

The fact u know jack squat about Hockey....means u should shut up about the economics of having hockey in a city. The fact u didnt know Atlanta lost its team.....that Miami and Phoenix(almost lost it 2 years ago) are in danger of moving. The Fact that u didnt know the Dallas Stars used to me the North Stars from Minney..........should clue u in......to shut up.

Houston is not a subpar sports town......it just means u are dumbass who is clueless......

Funny because I was about to say that most 12 year olds have a much better understanding about population density, transplant migration, urbanization, and just overall sports history than what you've shown here.

How old are you? Have you always live in Houston (if you even live here?)

The irony of all of this is that you're arguing the "weakness" of Houston sports fans... On one of the top fan run message boards on the Internet that is almost entirely made up of those same weak Houston sports fans.

LOL..u are making an argument that based on population of your entire state....u should have this many sports teams? You are an absolute IDIOT.

#1....The leagues determine now many teams are available total. So it would be impossible to have as many team to match California or New York's ratio.
#2...Money has NOTHING to do with OH, IL, PA..........Again, Leagues have to expand. They dont want to share the revenue with more teams. Plus, The Cowboys and Texans, the Rockets, Mavs, and Spurs.......The Astros and Rangers....will not let any more teams come to the state. They have their fanbases to protect. Cowboys protect the Austin/San Antonio Markets because of their fan bases. Jerry Jones didnt block the Texans because Houston was never going to be a big Cowboys market and Bob McNair threw 3 quarters of a billion dollars at the NFL (Still a record for a expansion franchise in any league).

#3 Hockey has struggled in a number of warm weather cities. The NHL made mistakes in the cities they expanded to in the south. They have been trying to correct that ever since.

You act like if a city in Texas wants a team...all they have to do is Snap their fingers! San Antonio says "hello". It is not up to the cities again...its up to the leagues. IL, OH, PA......Traditional fan bases.......most those teams have been around for 70 years or more. Bengals do not do better than the Texans by the way..........

Pretty funny calling someone dumbass when you yourself don't know how to use apostrophes or a spacebar, use "u" while typing, and have several other grammatical errors in a post that was barely 5 sentences.

Dallas' demography almost mirrors Houston. There's no reason they should have a hockey team while Houston does not.... unless Houston is subpar. I know it hurts you to hear that, just don't blame the messenger. You also seem to have some anger issues. Seek help before something happens to you. This is a message board and you're actually calling people names and telling them to "shut up". Pathetic, but thanks for the laugh.

If you believe population plays zero role, you need help. There's a reason places like Wyoming, South Carolina, and Mississippi have no teams. To suggest otherwise is foolish.

Do you even know what a ratio is?

Georgia, OH, IL, and several other states (including ones I posted in your face) have matched and/or surpassed Cali and NY's ratio.

You're the same less-than-intelligent person who suggested "money doesn't matter, corporations are the key." (post #54)

    News flash... corporations equal money!!

I doubt one owner (vote) can block a team from expanding. But even if they could, Jerry's blocking the Texans would've been more profitable for him. The Cowboys already have plenty fans here and Houston having no team would equal more money for him. Do you really believe the Niners owner wanted the Raiders back in town? Or the BAL's owner wanted the Nationals in the area? They couldn't do anything to stop it.

No one said anything about snapping fingers and miraculously a team appears. I merely said Texas is lacking and should have more teams.

Also, no one said the Bengals do better than the Texans. I said Ohio does better for its population than Texas.

I guess when you have no argument, you must invent some.

I gotta say when I went to the Astros vs Red Sox game the ballpark was pretty quiet compared to other ball parks I've been too.

I'll say again...this is the case in virtually every city in the country for each of their pro sports teams. For the most part, people don't pay these prices in droves to watch a bad product. There are a few rare exceptions.

quietest park i've ever been to? Wrigley Field. I sat in great seats surrounded by season ticket holders who sat on their hands all game and couldn't tell me who the retired numbers belonged to.

@Houstunna, it's not about total population it's about where the people are concentrated. An argument could be made that the San Antonio/Austin area should have more than the Spurs but really all that's missing is NHL Hockey from Houston. There are many large areas of population in the state but none that are as densely connected as there are in other states with more teams.

I have said it before and I will say it again...it's the most over-rated ballpark in the majors. And it's closely followed by Fenway Park. Tiger Stadium was far better than either of them.

My experience at Fenway was wildly different. Those fans were engaged and passionate. They gave me hell. It was great. It was like people in the south at a college football game.

The fans at Wrigley do not care for the most part...there to be seen and for the bars in Wrigleyville.

Love he flash sales the Astros put on for last night's game. $20 for decent seats on dollar hot dog night. The park looked like it had a nice crowd last night. Keep it up stros! So fun when the city is behind he team.
