They made Flores cry on TV for no reason. And of course, they're playing it over and over again.

Then you don't have to give up good young prospects on cheap contracts for an expensive rental when none is needed. Team is good enough as it is and is already going to add Springer and Lowrie. There's no reason to give up any of our prospects. Keep them all and let the cream rise to the top in the coming years.

The Stros are doing just fine as it is.

can you define your plan when we have more than 40 men on the 40 man roster? Or more specifically, which prospects would you rather lose for nothing vs. getting something for other prospects?

a lot of us advocating for a trade are saying that the 40 man roster is going to be full soon enough with all these "good young prospects on cheap contracts"...so it's smarter to make a move before giving guys away

The majority of prospects dealt in trades for established MLB players don't pan out.

Their success rate won't change when you keep those prospects.

    Got it?

If the Astros package was better I'm glad he refused the deal.

If we want Marisnick to be our CF (and I do) then we don't need an outfielder, as we already have a crowed one once Springer is back. We would have Tucker as the 4th outfielder, and he is hitting a lot. In the last month he is hitting .297 and an OPS over .900. What i like about Tucker is he started hot, then cooled, and is hitting again, meaning, he made the adjustments. Yes, he sucks defensively, but, he bats. So here the question is, Springer or Rasmus to cf over Marisnick or we stay with the defense. With Tucker, those 4 split time, so we don't really need another outfielder. Actually, Domingo Santana, with only 22 years showed he is ready for the majors, with an OPS over .770 with inconsistent playing time.
We could say, maybe 1b is the position of need, well, i really want to see what Singleton can do. I am not a fan of Carter, but i am not willing to say that Singleton is not our 1b for now and the future, we need to see what he can do. I believe he is giving us good at bats, and i like what he is doing defensively. I also like Marwin hitting right handed, so we can have him playing against tough lefties there, with Lowrie playing 3b, meaning, better against lefties with those 2, Gattis LF and Carter DH. The GREAT thing about this team is that we have a lot of players, and there is competition.

Why is this team so GREAT this year????

I have to say one name, MCCULLERS.

You guys know how much i like to place pitcher in spots in rotation. McCullers has pitched so GREAT that he became our number 2 starter, something that we really did not had. We tried Feldman, McHugh there, and they are NOT good enough for that. So once McCullers took that spot, we were able to move McHugh to number 3 (not great there, but at least good enough) and Feldman to number 4, and continue to struggled with that number 5 spot with Hernandez and Wojo. Then came VV, and helped, making that 5th spot a very good one, and we did not had to worry anymore, no more Hernandez.
Now we got Kazmir, and what was an OK rotation, BECOMES VERY GOOD.
K is a legit number 1, Kazmir, as number 2 is great as he is also a number 1 starter, then you move McCullers, who is pitching as a great number 2 move him to number 3. Then you have McHugh, who started as our number 2 now a number 4 and he is above average for number 4, same for Feldman, who is an above average pitcher for a number 5. Now, if the Astros are able to get Ross, then this becomes a great rotation, big big time.
I hope we are able to resign Kazmir, as he is one of my favorite players, and very happy so see him wearing an Astros uniform but if they get Ross this may not happen as we have Appel and VV ready to contribute at the end of the year, and certainly next one.

And, we still have Straily, and i really believe this guy has talent and can help.

McCullers has been awesome this year. Still curious as to how they're going to handle the innings adding up, and when/if they'll shut him down?

They've already said they won't shut him down, he's gonna be pitching all year. My guess is that him and VV are about to start splitting starts.

Although one method they could also use is to push his starts back so that he gets 6 or 7 games between starts. Start VV when necessary and keep the other guys on rotation. That could save 3 or 4 starts and keeps him from getting rusty due to lack of work.

Read someone said that on a Root Sports Southwest they were saying Cashner and reliever to Astros for Villar, guduan, JD davis, Santana going out for Houston!

    What do you think?

I would bring Straily for spot starts, and leave VV in the bullpen, unless they acquire another starter. Maybe Straily could give you 4 more starts.

Astros are in a great but tough situation for the first time. They have more major league talent in the minors than there are roster spots for them on the Astros.

Also being a good team faster than expected has forced the Astros hands a bit. Now they will need to trade fringe prospects with huge ability for the known commodities. Patience will be reserved for the Correas and McCullers of the system.

Appel, Santana, Singleton, etc. all are going to be on short leshes. Two and Three year to figure things out will be less frequent and reserved for the truly elite talented.

For the first time, being in the AL West has the Astros in the thick of things. If they had been in the NL Central they would be fighting the Pirates and Cardinals for their playoff chances.

That's great news on not shutting him down. Have been out of town quite a bit lately, and wasn't aware they said this. When did they say this?

Luhnow said it on a game broadcast I believe.

They are gonna find ways to keeps his innings down, so he's gonna be missing starts or maybe some time in the pen, but they aren't gonna go the Strasburg route of shutting him down at a certain number.

I agree that Singleton "could" have a good future, this just isn't the time to be trying to see. Need stability.

McCullers has been great, but one way or another he will be limited innings wise. I want us to try and win the World Series this year, and giving starts to Straily doesn't inspire confidence in that regard

I know I sound like a broken record, but we have more prospects than we can ever use here, now is the time to use some as trade chips

Yes it was on a broadcast and he said it on 790 also

Didn't say how, and said they won't take the Strasburg route, but said he will be limited

I would guess they are waiting until after trade deadline to make any changes to his routine in hopes we get one more starter
