Interesting tidbit from Tags. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Astros are 41-28 when Castro starts at catcher; 15-17 when Conger starts.</p>— Brian McTaggart ⚾️ (@brianmctaggart) <a href="https://twitter.com/brianmctaggart/status/626544548546646016">July 30, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
A ton of other variables there (the least of them being Castro's bat)... he'd be better off comparing pitcher's ERA, or opponents runs allowed, with each individual catcher.
A lot to that position obviously But Hank is a total green light to run And while he has been pretty good at the plate lately, the overall numbers aren't that good
They'd be a lot better if he got to bat more against right-handed pitching (which Castro typically gets).
Yep, which should be a lesson about prospects cause when this year started most said he couldn't last as a starter Has a chance to be as good as anyone
Yea maybe, I just think it's kind of like the backup QB syndrome. Starter is bad so we want the backup. I will say if he was a threat at all to throw someone out he should play more, but damn
I'd say its more than just that... its Castro being absolutely worthless at the plate, and Conger being one of this team's BEST left-handed hitters. Yes, Conger won't throw anybody out... but Luhnow obviously feels his plate production outweighs that problem (which is also influenced by pitcher's time to home plate, etc.)
