Is it possible that we get Hamels and make a deal with the Padres?

Upton/Kimbrel/Hamel would probably deplete our farm.

The farm would be back in just about 2 or 3 more drafts.

If they go after Kimbrel our bullpen is as good as the Royals.

Maybe they want to move Shields contract???? But i don't like Shields and his age, I think McHugh can pitch the same and younger and cheaper

Our farm is too deep to really be depleted

Having said that we won't do that much I don't think

If we get one more stud (any position ) and another small piece or two that would be awesome

One of the main reasons we've got the farm system we have, is that we've been drafting at the top of the draft for the past 5 years. That's not going to be the case anymore.

Eh, obviously Correa and McCullers are great

But when you look at our prospects now

Appel, Bregman, K Tucker and Daz are a result of that

Only Appel is being talked about, all of the others we have were great scouting and drafting, nothing to do with picking first and having the big draft budget

Not saying its a guarantee they will keep drafting this well, but it's not just the top picks

    Not really.

The key about drafting at the top is the 1-1 pick... all other round picks can be had if you really want them (you just draft the 2nd round guy in the 1st round, etc., etc.).

The last two 1-1 picks haven't worked out that great (yet)... Bregman is looking solid... but everybody else was gotten "later".

Luhnow had pretty solid drafts in St. Louis (which produced several of their core players), and they were never drafting high.

Houston is one of the largest markets in the country, no reason to be too cheap. Gotta spend money wisely, but have to go for the title when given chances. Attendance will pick up when team qualifies for playoffs.

**** Hamels, move on already. Let him spend his twilight on that terrible team, angering the fans who want future prospects to rebuild while he whines in the corner. Would love Ross, and Cashner is very underrated. Look at his stat line and the Defense that does nothing but make errors and allow runs. Getting Kimb would be killer, but we really, really, really need a freaking reliable bat. You can't use Kimbrel when you're down 3-0.
