But to suggest Dean Oliver is such a hot commodity that got mistreated in Sac town maybe also a knee jerk reaction.

The whole Kings organization from top to bottom is a joke, if you are one of the employees, you are part of the problem.

I do not know what exactly Dean Oliver contribute to the Kings, but no matter how you see it, there aren't any good things done in the last few years analytic wise.

Their draft picks for the last few years are just straight awful, you can do a better work than that by just blind fold yourself and throw a dart.

Good points, just because you're an analytics guy doesn't automatically mean you're smart at evaluating players, people forget but Kahn was actually an analytics guy.

Roland Beech is currently the Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Dallas Mavericks. Beginning as a consultant during the ’05-06 season, Roland has been in various coaching side and front office roles for the Mavs, most notably being the first NBA “stats coach” and sitting behind the bench during the Mavericks’ championship season of 2010-11.

The Sacramento Kings have reached a deal with Roland Beech, the Mavericks' vice president of basketball operations.

Beech began as a consultant with the Mavericks in the 2005-06 season and rose up the chain, heading a fledgling analytics department in Dallas that helped revolutionize the usage of analytics throughout the NBA. He sat behind the bench during the Mavericks' 2010-11 championship run.

Sacramento had fired analytics guru Dean Oliver recently and settled on Beech as the replacement -- contrary to reports that they were planning to completely get rid of the department. We'll keep you updated if the Mavericks announce a replacement for Beech, who also founded 82games.com, one of the leading sites for advanced statistics.

Dallas' front office had already experienced some change this summer, although not in the basketball operations department. Longtime Mavericks' CEO Terdema Ussery resigned to accept a position heading Under Armour. Floyd Jahner, who was the Mavericks' chief financial officer since 2001, was promoted to his position.
