San Diego and the Astros seem like such a good match right now for trading. SD doesn't have enough MLB talent. SD doesn't have many prospects in high levels. I could see the Astros taking multiple guys from their MLB team in exchange for a pillaging of the Astros farm system. If the Astros offered the Padres the following, what would they get: Appel Reed Musgrove Kemp Feliz
I don't think that would get him, with him being controlled for 3 more years?? I would think something like VV, Appel and a lower caliber guy like Singleton or Kemp. I would do something like that in a heartbeat. To add a controllable guy like Ross to Keuchel, McHugh and McCullers would guarantee us a very solid 4 man rotation with the possibility of still signing Kazmir to fill it out.
I know you have to give to get, but I don't think we will see Reed moved. Not because of his "status" so much as his "status" plus our need. I would give the other 4 you mention for Ross and Alonso though
I thought you meant Upton, as i would not give a top pitching prospect for a reliever, I may for another starter or position player.
is tyson ross that good? I always thought he was a younger feldman, with one more all star appearance.
I don't get that. Tyson Ross generates more K's and is one of the best GB pitchers in the game. He's a guy that could really break out in a big way, especially if he can get those walks down (which I wouldn't assume, but you never know).
So do you bench Feldman after he pitched so well this weekend? He is nowhere close to the biggest problem on this team. I'm not sure you do that for Ross.
YES! Ross would be one of the 4 best pitchers for the Astros and is debatable that he would be 2nd best.
Ross feels like a more ready, more polished VV--except much more of a groundball guy than VV. Nowhere near Feldman
If they add Ross it's a move for the future as much as this year. And Ross is much better than Feldman. His ERA is 3.45 but his FIP is 2.75, he has been extremely unlucky BABIP wise (.344 this season) I would love to ass Ross, even if the price were a little high. He has the 3rd highest GB%, and the 7th best LD% over the last 3 years. Those numbers play anywhere. His walk rate is a little high, which keeps him from being elite, but as a teams 3rd best pitcher he is spectacular.
