Still plenty of mispronouncing of "Biggio".

Never understood that... Learn it... He is a HOF for Ruth's sake.

Take a drink every time he uses the self-righteous phrase "the right way". Just don't drive after the speech.

God this induction ceremony is insufferable.

That speech gave me goosebumps. Biggio truly is a Houston Legend and icon and I couldn't be happier that he is the first representative of the Houston Astros in Cooperstown.

Kinda surprised he barely mentioned Bagwell in his speech...was kinda hoping he'd say Bags deserved to be up there with him or something.

I expected a couple more sentences or thoughts on Bags. A call-out on the voters 1) wouldn't do any good, and 2) isn't Biggio's style. But a more underhanded compliment to Bags would've been nice. Great speech nonetheless.

Weird, I always thought Bagwell was the best Astro during those years. Don't get me wrong--Biggio was great. But Bagwell seemed like the better player. Fantastic baserunner, fielder, hitter. Truly did it all. Goldschmidt reminds me of Baggy a little. Hopefully the writers get their minds right. History needs to be written accordingly.

Yeah I was halfway expecting this big emotional moment when he mentioned Bagwell. Kind of like how Emmitt Smith had with Moose in his HOF speech. But Biggio just kind of touched on it and moved on.

Regardless, he's a true class act, and there couldn't be a better first representative of the Astros in the HOF.

Bagwell didn't seem like the best player, he was the best player. From 94-01 Bagwell was one of the 5 best players in the entire sport. Unfortunately he is being held out because many people assume (without any actual evidence whatsoever) that he was a PED user.

Just watched his speech. Great speech and hard to keep back the tears. As a nearly life-long fan (moved to Houston when I was 5 in 1980), it was such a proud moment to finally have one of our own in the HOF...and Biggio promptly knocked it out of the park.

Now to get Mr. Bagwell in there...

I’d say it goes way beyond that. He’s a top defender at a position no one cares about defense. He’s a great baserunner at a position no on cares about baserunning. He was a power hitter in the Astrodome which of course no one give credit for. His career numbers fell short because of a sharp decline late in his career instead of that gradual, Biggio-esque gradual falling off. And he played in the steroid era.

If one were to build a HOF player that will never get into the HOF, Bagwell is the prototypical first baseman for that.

This is correct, and so very wrong, at the same time.

The Hall is a joke until Bagwell is in.

Great day for Houston. Good speech and great to have an Astro represented in the HOF. It was nice hearing the names of the former Astros players and staff members. Biggio should've mentioned something about hoping Bagwell would make it one day. It wouldn't be calling out the voters, it's just supporting a deserving candidate... a better candidate.

    Great day for Houston

[rquoter]“And last, I gave the game everything I had every day. In baseball, tomorrow is not guaranteed and I tried to play every game as if it was gonna be my last. I want to thank the game for everything. The game has given me everything. My family, my friends, respect, but most of all, memories of a lifetime.” [/rquoter]

What a great speech from a great player and guy.
Now let's get Bagwell in there!
