That is what a cop with his ego in check looks like.
He deserves to be a law enforcement officer.

A lot of misguided anger at the cop. The cop didn't kill her. If she hadn't acted the fool to him, he would have given her a warning and that would have been the end of it. Even professionals can snap if you intentionally and idiotically push their buttons.

If the driver was black, he'd have been dead.

No he wouldn't have. This specific officer was fired for doing this actually. What he'd do is say things to get the driver really riled up then go back to the car and turn the camera on and remain calm while letting the drivers freak out. It was some Super Troopers BS......but go ahead and play the race card, we all know it's the only one in the deck.

If it were me I would have whooped that guy's ass. The way that cop just stood there and took that abuse seems like the last thing a cop should ever do. There were too many incidences in that video where the man showed violent and aggressive behavior to warrant more than just a warning to calm down. Why that officer did not respond with an attempt to arrest or at least take a more defensive posture are beyond me. The last thing I would want in that situation is some nut job swinging his door open and lunging out at me while I am standing two inches from oncoming traffic.

EDIT: On second thought, is it me, or is the officer intentionally talking like a douchebag - particularly when he is reading the instructions? There has to be more to this story. But anyway, Sandra Bland was given numerous opportunities to comply with the officer's request and she chose to continue with her poor attitude.

Poor attitude shouldnt be an arrestable offense in THIS country. The middle east or Russia or worse sure... But we are supposed to be better than that. Some of y'alls standards for this country are despicable.

Are you joking? That cop clearly has an ego. He's condescending throughout the interview. Although he didn't try to arrest the guy it's not as if he didn't encourage the response.

She didn't get arrested for having a poor attitude or for failing to use her signal, she got arrested for refusing to comply with a lawful order and assaulting a police officer. If she doesn't do those two things, she just gets a warning for the traffic violation and goes home even with her ridiculous hostile attitude.

People are bending over backwards looking for excuses to blame the officer, but this situation was entirely of Sandra Bland's making.

Again, that officer was fired for pulling stunts like this. It was essentially a prank where he would work up the guy he pulls over, then he'd go turn on his camera and play it cool while the person pulled over goes nuts. It's something you'd expect to see on Super Troopers. It's not a normal traffic stop.

And if the officer did his job, and handed her his ticket/warning this is never an issue. He decided it was time to escalate things due to her attitude, which as DPS has says, is against their protocol, which is exactly why he is suspended.

They are both at fault. How you cant see that is hard to believe. The DPS clearly sees it.

lawful order? that was not a lawful order.. she had the lawful right to stay in her car..

if she was white none of this would have happened. Black people never get a fair shake when it comes to dealing with cops. History proves it.

I agree anyone can get pushed over their limit. Professional included and that's where their training is important.

And if professional do snap, they are no longer professional at that instance. Depending on their duty and the critical nature of it, anything from a warning to being fire to jail time is the result. Some are held to higher standard than other. A cop with deadly weapon and much power that loses his cool because of a women nagging her truth out is way too reactive and is unfit to be a cop.

You folks hold cops to too low a standard.

I think we need to hold cops to a little higher standard. Throwing someone in jail for their attitude? It clogs up the jail and legal system with extra people. He should have just given her ticket and let her go. Telling her to blow out her cigarette is not a legal order.

Are you sure about that... Watch this video _ https://youtu.be/F4xrM0_-9no _ there are women of different colors getting there azz beat and or roughed up by cops (there's a old white lady at the 7:55 mark).

These cops are out here committing rape as well.

Women of all colors should be cautious and smart when dealing with police officers.

No you are right.. these cops have 0 control and have a license to kill. I do believe though I white man in a suit has a better chance of getting off then a black lady with braids.

I just think its truly sad that Americans believe she had to get out of her car because the cop gave her a "lawful order" that is complete horse ****! She had every right to say in her car! The cop abused his power, simple as that.

Imagine being black and being profiled all day long. Going into a store and being looked at like a suspect even though you probably make more then the person that works at the retail store. Racism is alive and well and it's truly sad.

Sandra Bland was violated in so many ways.

    RIP SANDRA BLAND

She had no legal right to stay in her car. She did have to get out. We have had that discussion already. I think that issue distracts from what's important about the case.

In regards to the profiling, I managed a retail store at one point. Although I'm sure profiling occurs often at stores, a pretty significant percentage of people I caught stealing would immediately go to the "I've got more money than you" nonsense. You lose all respect and class as a person by pointing out how much money you have or make. Also, no one's going to drop their prejudice because someone has more money than them.

This is how one should react to getting pulled over. Trying to keep in real with the cops is not smart and is what gets you arrested.

I can see why a black person might be nervous to get out of the car... look what happens when they do.

    actually she did:

    http://www.texasstandard.org/shows/...a-bland-traffic-stop-every-texan-should-know/

He does not have the right to say get out of the car. He has to express some reason. ‘I need to search your car,’ or, whatever; he needs to give a reason. He can’t just say ‘get out of the car’ for a traffic offense.”
