So what you're saying is that he's a perpetual campaigner, but not interested in actually doing his job. Because his job is to convince other Senators to vote for things he believes in.

The media is left leaning and Trump will never win the Presidency so the media is giving him all the coverage he wants and ignoring any candidate with a chance. I would do the same thing if I was left leaning. Plus, you never know what his hair is going to do so there is that entertainment/suspense factor.

I don't follow daily politics so I don't know what Trump has been doing or saying, but I just assumed he was never sincerely running for the Republican nomination - he's just whooping up his own publicity early on in the election cycle, stirring up s*** for no reason other than to get people saying and thinking his name. He'll drop out well before the race gets serious and will end up with another TV show and a ton of paid speaking appearances.

Am I wrong or am I right?

He's getting all of the coverage because he is up by double digits in the polls after saying racist things. It's sensational and it gets them ratings they could care less which party he's from.

If you were left-leaning you probably wouldn't believe in jackass conspiracy theories.

You're right in that coverage of Trump by the media helps his campaign along.

Of course, he's basically saying the same types of things other Republicans have said for the last few decades.

The ugly, embittered nativist bullsh-t is pure Tea Party, and the "I'm rich, you're fired, FU" routine is a nice summation of most GOP fiscal & economici policy, from VERY SERIOUS people like Paul Ryan all the way on down to the barely literate Louie Gohmerts.

The GOP is reaping what it has sown, and the harvest is your GOP frontrunner, Donald Trump.

You hurl sh-t sandwiches long enough, eventually you start to smell.

So what you're saying is that Republican voters are easily manipulated by the media and dazzled by celebrity enough to vault him to the lead of Republican contenders.

It's the echo chamber that makes the support, Trump says something injudicious, the media exploits it to get eyeballs and clicks to make money off of advertising, the appearance to the general public that Trump is newsworthy, Trump is now covered 24/7 and the cycle continues.

It popularity p*rn without any real politics.

    people like p*rn.

This is the biggest cop out.

The media coverage Donald Trump has received has nothing to do with it being left leaning. He gets attention because he has been a celebrity for over 30 years, is extremely outspoken and is more than willing to speak to anyone that sticks a microphone in his face.

Why is he doing so well? I don't know, ask the Republicans and independents that claim they support him. I suspect his wealth and confidence are appealing to them.

That doesn't explain FOX News' coverage. Or the fact that lots of GOPers LIKE him. You think the media should be ignoring the polls and picking the candidates they think can win and only cover them?

People are fine with ridiculous, but they won't bother with boring.

Jonny Stew did a bit on it the other night, showing Kaisch and Chafee making great political points but in a boring way. It was telling of the US process.

Republicans are racist scum and Trump is helping the party. He is bringing the Tea Trash in line despite the Establishment having done nothing for them. The party loves the Red Meat he is serving up. He'll then be shunted aside.

Look up the Webster definition of ideologue. Has a picture of Ted Cruz next to it.

Because it has no basis in reality much less politics. There is always uncertainty, exceptions, differing definitions, changing circumstances and as always, differing perspectives. And politics is about accommodation and compromise since every actor has their own.

    Everything changes, all the time.

Other than Trump, which candidate is going to make America great again? That is my top priority.
