I understand you problem with TJ bballholic. I often find myself shaking my head at some of the boneheaded plays he makes and how he often has the tendency to shut down in big games. The thing is, he's only 1.2 million and has what can't be taught: the athleticism and length. He definitely has not she on the capability to be a solid starting 4 but I think he is going to be lethal against other backup 4s

Jones is a contract year guy. Will have a monster first half of the season, Morey won't bite it, sell him high and never regret, watching Jones' career fade away rapidly in some Charlotte.

You suggested we could get a first from Toronto for Jones. So if Nogueira isn't involved, you're down to James Johnson and a first rounder for Jones.

If that deal could be consummated....why hasn't it? Do you think Morey values Jones more than James Johnson and a first rounder??

I am 100% sure Morey would take that deal in a blink of an eye. Obviously it wasn't offered to him. So Morey will do with Jones what he did with Patterson and Morris: start him at PF to start the year, then sell high prior to trade deadline. And it won't damage DMO's wish to resign, since he's coming from injury, he won't mind to come off a bench till we trade Jones.

It would be interesting to see Masai and Morey trade with each other. Bloodbath?

Valanciunas is a slow learner with a lot to improve, defense, passing, shot. He's talented, he can maybe become a foundational player... in 5 years.

I agree that Jones isn't a great fit. I think Motiejunas would be a pretty nice fit.

Maybe because Morrey and or Uijiri are looking for something else?
For example Uijiri could look to package his first rounders to get in the top 5. Or package then with DD to get a star. Or wait to see how the team does in the first half before the makes further adjustments.
Or because until now Morrey was looking to package Jones for a pg and then the Lawson trade opportunity came up and now Toronto has found another trade partner?
Just because the trade value is equal doesn't mean a deal WILL be made neccessarily. Quite the logic there.
    O

I don't get the hype of Noguiera here. Just because someone is long doesn't mean he will be a star or even is a starting caliber center.

Agree on Booker. Don't think Utah would move him for Terrence.

However, Miami is in the REPEATER TAX. And they're desperate to get out. Because next year they're most likely going to be in the luxury tax again and therefore the repeater tax again.

So...Riley would absolutely love to get out of the repeater tax. IF..........Miami doesn't cut a deal to dump Andersen/Chalmers for Haywood's non-guaranteed contract....THEN....Riley is going to be looking to unload salaries somewhere.

We already know Andersen and Chalmers are readily available. And we know they'd like to keep McBob because of his SKILLS. But.....if push comes to shove sending Terrence to Miami (or Philly) and Bullock/Martin to Philly, while Miami sends McRoberts here and Chalmers to Philly could become another possibility.

as a fan of DMO you shouldn't want your favourite player to end up in Toronto in my opinion. Because if Casey stays good luck getting him touches.
Casey and their training staff have messed up Val so far. I think it's very debatable at this point he ends up a star, and fullfills his potential. I heard he is trying to lose the weight they made him gain to regain some of his mobillity. Let's see what happens.

There's no "hype" of Nogueira. He's simply a young 7-footer. You're suggesting he's so bad, and so cancerous as a first year player that Uriji will give up a first to dump him for a mediocre power forward.

You shouldn't hype Terrence either. He's just another player, malakas. He's just another of a huge group of young PFs with athleticism but mediocre skill sets. They're available almost by the dozen.

If Morey is going to chase Durant, the lingering RFA's of Jones and Dmo are hurdles in that regard. I wouldn't be surprised if Jones is moved at the deadline for a more veteran and better PF on an expiring contract.

The guy that comes to mind for me is the Ryan Anderson.

The problem there is how do you get the salaries to match? You would need a filler contract to trade and we don't have one.

It's too late to sell high on Terrence. We need to salvage value and look to the next trade after Terrence to recoup even more value. That's why I'm suggesting trading him now if we can find a team that will give us a player (or 2 or 3) and a decent second round pick. Because we can then step-up in 60 days and move those players for a higher-salaried expiring deal that could be a player like JJ Hickson that would help us in a championship run more than Terrence will. Hickson is a better on-court player and he's a better contract to be armed with (along with the second rounder) to help us turn a deal later in the season.

pele, if healthy DMo is the clear cut starter at the 4 as long as he's here and we don't trade him or trade for a better 4. DMo has proven he's the better player than Terrence.

And this is Terrence's 4th year. Doesn't matter how much or how little he played his rookie year or his injuries at this point. It's his 4th season and he's headed for RFA after next season.

What you are suggesting is Jones is going to have this crazy smash-out season, his 4th season in the league. The odds of that happening...are miniscule. It's simply not in the cards. And we aren't going to pay him in RFA when we're trying to hold cap open for a max FA signing. Nor do we want both his and DMo's cap holds on the books when we're trying to hold out cap space for a max FA signing in 2016.

No no. I'm not saying he's cancerous at all. His reportedly bad work ethic is a serious indication in my opinion that he won't put the hard work and effort necessary to develop his skills further.
He is nothing spectacular in my opinion and won't end up anything more than a defensive big off the bench and even that will take years. IN MY OPINION.

I dont' think Jones is the trash you make it sound but at least you want to get someone back who can contribute now even if they have less talent than Jones. Noguiera needs a lot of development and wont' be able to contribute in the foreseeable future. So why trade for him?
If you want to trade for future assets to include in a trade then trade for a first rounder, not for Noguiera.
So trading for him doesnt' make sense either way and you lose value in the trade.
It's nothing personal I have against Noguiera (i don't even care for him lol). It's my opinion that a trade for him straight up is bad for the Rockets.

Jones has proved he can play in the NBA (the dozens you mention have not). He can be a starter in the east just fine.

If KJ is given time and shows he can do what Brewer does (to a decent level), I am guessing Morey is looking at a Brewer + TJ trade for Ryan Anderson + some other expiring contract in December.

That gives us the best starting 5 and decent bench to go for it this season while keeping options to offer Durant max or close to it

    Lawson / Bev
    Harden / THornton
Ariza / KJ (or filler for NO perhaps Quincy P)
    Rhino / DMo
    Howard / Capela

And then in the summer of 2016 Rhino's 8.5MM expires and you go hard after Durant.

This team does not have to worry about the hard cap at this time. Not unless Morey uses the remainder of the MLE to sign somebody else or he executes a sign-and-trade of an incoming player (highly unlikely).

We are, most likely, going to go into the luxury tax this season. And we may go significantly into the luxury tax this season if Morey feels like a trade gets us to championship status.

That's another reason I'm suggesting we stack transactions up here during the summer and increase our trade-able contracts. We've got the $1.6 million TPE plus minimum salary trade exceptions plus Jones contract that can be mushroomed into a significantly larger expiring contract (plus a second rounder or two) of a player that will be more useful to us on-court (and later off-court in trade) than Terrence will be.

Once again, we are not hard-capped at this time at the apron. Neither will we be as long as we don't get involved in sign-and-trade of an incoming player or use the remainder of our MLE.

Side note: glad to see this thread get its actual intended use rather than all of this being in the Cyberx thread.

Crackpot trades are fun to talk about and debate, but it's best to not muddy the waters with legit insider info.

once again, you suggested we could get a first from Toronto for Jones. So, that leaves your trade at Jones for James Johnson and a first rounder.

Once again, malakas, if that deal could be done, it would already be done. Morey would complete that deal on the phone if Uriji suggested it or was agreeable to it. Not going to happen, malakas. You are overvaluing Jones. He's not going to get you a first rounder from anybody. A dleague team may give up one of their first rounders for him but we can't trade with them. we're not going to get a first for Jones from an NBA team. Unrealistic

somehow i missed an entire season. i really thought next season was dmo and jones 3rd year.

another possibility is that dmo starts at the beginning of the season and is traded with his perceived higher value along with other pieces for a higher upgrade. and jones is signed for a smaller contract then what dmo could be signed for.

    who knows haha

Yes, trading DMO is a legit possibility. However....if DMo is traded it is much more likely that he is traded for an established superstar. Because DMo has at least star potential. He's a legit offensive threat in the blocks, on the perimeter, and with his passing/playmaking ability. He's a highly-skilled, multi-dimensional offensive big man with at least average to good defensive ability. So, he's worth quite a bit more in trade than Terrence, especially once he shows he's good from the back surgery.

-Toronto got a 2016 1st round pick from Milwaukee for Vasquez (expiring).
-NY got a 2015 1st round pick from Atlanta for Tim Hardaway JR.

Both are ridiculous trades for Mil/Atlanta. Maybe Jones will fetch a 1st? It only takes ONE team to do it.
