There's still carbs in vegetables and nuts. Cutting down on starchy carbs has worked for me, while still eating fibrous carbs. Basically less grains, more greens.
No it's not. It is simple. Don't eat processed junk. Bread, rice, pasta and potatoes are not bad for you. They are only bad if you consume mountains of it.
I would read www.reddit.com/r/keto I cut out bread and most other carbs and have lost some decent weight, but most importantly, I feel way better every day.
How the heck can the body tell between processed and refined carbs? Its all carbon hydrogen and oxygen.
is bread really the worst thing about your diet? Maybe tackle a few less pain in the ass items before you hop on the current dietary trends
Not enough people realize a diet is a lifestyle change FOR LIFE. People think, hey. I'll just take this pill or cut out [essential foodgroup] and then eat like a horse after I lose 30 pounds!
You made my point , I am 170 ish 5'10. I have seen my friends give up bread and in ridiculous shape. I am in late 20's , not a very young chap anymore. My older friend is mid 30's , now the guy looks like in his mid 20's. Few other examples.
I'm currently doing Paleo(not 100% tho) right now. I'm about to hit day 200 in about 2 weeks. It is definitely not a fad as it is increasing in popularity, it is here to stay like vegetarians and vegans are. There is a community here in socal dedicated to this lifestyle. Here are my thoughts, experiences, and tips about this lifestyle. 1. It isn't for everybody. If you feel good, relatively healthy, and enjoy foods of all cultures greatly, then this is not for you. The whole idea of this so called "fad" is to give up processed foods. Processed foods tend to have added sugar and too many simple carbs which is a big no no for Paleos. I stay away from bread from that reason alone and I don't miss it one bit. 2. The first couple of weeks you're going to feel like crap. From my experience, the 2nd week was like hell and I thought I couldn't do it but stuck around for the long term benefits with support from friends and my own motivation. After around the third week, that's when I started to feel amazing and started being more productive. It's just an amazing feeling where you don't have any cravings, crashes or feeling bloated. My digestive system as improved greatly. I know many people who can't get past the 1st couple of weeks and it is interesting that they are mostly vocal how this lifestyle doesn't work. 4. I honestly feel that Paleo is about promoting control and discipline more than the actual food. When 2/3's of Americans are overweight, obviously theres a huge lack of control. I understand ppl who say that just eat less and work out more. But that is easier said than done for the 66% of Americans. I lost 60+ pounds over the course of the past couple of months based on self-discipline. It completely changed my life for the better. 3. I mentioned that I wasn't 100% paleo and most ppl are the same as well. Most Paleos have at least 1 cheat meal a week. I personally do not have one as of right now but will probably implement it soon when I lost enough weight. 80-90% paleo to me is good enough. 4. Gives me an excuse to eat more BBQ. Hold the BBQ sauce, just a simple seasoning on a Texas Brisket is amazing. Also moderation is important obviously. 5. I can honestly say I do not miss burgers, pizza, any desserts(maybe a fruit tart but I can add that to my cheat meal in the future), pasta, white rice, ice cream, etc. The only food I have a mild craving once in a while are ethnic cuisine like some authentic mexican or vietnamese food but it is manageable and I could always put it in my cheat meal. I would write down what I eat everyday but I'm running out of time. If anybody have any questions, feel free to ask me. Not trying to be an expert of know-it-all, just got a couple of tips here and there. I understand that there are skeptics to this lifestyle and I was one as well. But the results speak for itself based of my experience and other ppls as well.
I don't think stuff like this is sustainable for any real period of time. Just cut back on calories and eat less of whatever you think is a problem (bread). Trying to cut things out completely is way way more trouble than it's worth. Especially something as common as bread.
Its not lack of control. Its ignorance. Ask most how fat is stored in the body and they cant tell you. Having public schools push the ridiculous food pyramid down children's throats for decades doesn't help.
Most overweight people are aware that fast food is bad for them. When overweight people are surrounded by mediocrity with their co-workers, neighbors and family all overweight, it seems normal to be pushing the upper limits of normal BMI. There is almost no shame nowadays for being fat in America thus the cycle continues. Just go over to places like Russia or Western Europe. You won't see many fat people and that is because they hold themselves to a higher standard of what is an acceptable body habitus.
Its absolutely lack of control. Ignorance? People don't eat 3000 calories a day and wonder how they are somehow magically gaining weight. As long as you aren't the fattest one in the group, you are okay with putting on weight which is the attitude a lot of people have.
Do people actually eat bread as one of their main carbs I grew up eating mostly rice and pasta, but that's also because I'm Asian I only eat bread once in a blue moon when I buy a sandwich for lunch or something
I think some fad diets actually benefit by zeroing in on specific taste preferences at the expense of other similarly unhealthy ones and possibly reducing total intake, assuming you're disciplined enough to not compensate by over-consuming.
Diet mountain dew is delicious. I oven bake chicken weekly. I eat oatmeal and drink green tea everyday. I run the treadmill or lift weights everyday. This summer shred hurt like a mu****a. We talking aesthetics diet not your average joe diet here. I chew peanut butter and spit it out just as a feeler
I agree that fat people treat themselves like victims these days instead of being ashamed, but I also see these people try to lose weight and have no idea how. This thread is a testament to that. You can eat 3000 calories a day and not gain fat. Just need to understand how.
