this is getting old fast. his inconsistency is not a huge loss. let it go. this team is better now without him on it than it was last year with him.

    Who cares?

He was hot and cold for us, glad we got him for last year but he is not going to do much but continue to decline.

And it takes away DH's security buddy blanket - so IMHO, the team chemistry gets back to where it needs to be.

When I would watch him play on the Rockets I would always count the number of horrible plays versus the number of good plays that Josh made. It was very rare that they were more good plays. When he gets the ball , he wants to make something great happen . Then he either makes a great pass, makes a difficult shot, misses badly or turns it over- often leading to a fast break for the opposition- with Josh jogging back and shaking his head. He's also very lackadaisical on defense. He doesn't close out on wide open threes and hesitates badly before trying for a loose ball. I don't deny that he has some talent on offense and can be a good defender at times . I'll be surprised if he ends up getting a lot of playing time with the clippers however

I'm grateful that Josh signed with us last year. He definitely helped us get past the Clippers and into the WCF and we should all be appreciative of that. But his contributions are replaceable and this offseason has been a huge success despite his departure. I'm also glad we won't have to deal with the hack-a-Smith anymore.

I see no need for ClutchFans to crap all over Josh now that he is gone. He went to a team where he thinks he will get more playing time. No hard feelings. He probably made the right decision. With a healthy DMo and TJones, and with the additions of Dekker and Harrell, the Rockets have a crowded front court.

Josh was a good teammate when he was here, and I'm not upset that he picked the Clippers over the Rockets.

it's nothing that wasn't said before. Smith has always been inconsistent and his bball iq has always been iffy. But to say that this guy is a huge loss is far from the truth when the team is actually better today.

I could totally see JSmoove not liking the situation in L.A. and
    (1) getting traded to the Rox or
    (2) getting released and signing with the Rox.

Just wanted to put this out there for when it actually happens:cool:;)

Doc isn't a great GM, but he's a hell of a coach. I can't tell if this move is a Doc coach or Doc GM move. My heart says it's a Doc GM move. Smoove won't get the playing time that Doc GM says he will, and he won't get the freedom he wants in that second unit. I could easily see Smoove get waived.

Why is this thread still going? Shouldn't it have been absorbed into the Smoove appreciation thread? Guy is gone. Loved what he did. He left. Shed a tear or a smile and turn the page. He is not coming back so why are you still talking about it like it makes a difference?

I don't see him ever putting on a Rockets uniform again. But it would surprise me not at all to see him do poorly with the Clippers and wind up bouncing around from team to team the rest of his career.

Like how well our power forwards guarded Aldridge when TJ and Donuts were sieves in the Blazers series? 'Ole! Granted they are better with more experience, but we can't just outscore everybody. Think about match ups with the Spurs and Golden State. That is our path to the Championship. Who is the defensive replacement to help against Aldridge and Green?

Not sure how true it is, but this guy claims to have heard this on Jay Mohr:

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">On <a href="https://twitter.com/JayMohrSports">@jaymohrsports</a> Josh Smith did not call anyone on <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Rockets?src=hash">#Rockets</a> to tell them he was leaving. Said he wasn't that close to anyone. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Fam?src=hash">#Fam</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Dwight?src=hash">#Dwight</a></p>&mdash; Tony Mataya (@tonymataya) <a href="https://twitter.com/tonymataya/status/623599581511593984">July 21, 2015</a></blockquote>

Can't see that being true. Too many reports otherwise. But hey...maybe they were all wrong. Clearly something was wrong with his situation here.

Really at this point who cares if it's true or not. Josh Smith was always one candle short anyway, that's why everyone was so surprised he did so well in Houston it would have been a great story for his career. But of-course Josh Smith gotta Josh Smith.

Surprised by that tweet, especially given Smiths' reaction/celebration with hugging MCHale when we beat LAC, not to mention his friendship with Howard.

Would've liked to have kept Smith, but not too disappointed. Given the missed games from both DMo and Jones last season, if they can both stay healthy then I don't think we're losing too much with Smith gone.

So Dwight Howard was the best man at his wedding but he is suddenly not close to anyone on the team? Strange.

Totally right. Why think about the best player (now) on the favorite to win our conference who happened to have routinely torched our team for 40+ points in the playoffs a couple years ago? Yeah, let's just forget about him, and he will go away.
