I like how he also touched on the defensive concerns. Ty's impact on the offense should relieve Harden's worries and allow the two of them to focus more effort on defense. (Yes, I know my faith is high)

Looking at this film . . . . So Lawson is like a Very Poor Man's Allen Iverson
Which is not bad at all

Massive upgrade. I think DH will benefit from TL as well. The 2nd unit with TL and Marcus Thornton should be a vast improvement over last year. The drop-off when Harden sits should be a fraction of what it was.

Not sure about this. AI passed really well when he wanted to. He just chose to score by himself most of the time.

Seems like everywhere I read and everything I watch talks about how James needs the ball in his hands. Funny how I've yet to see anybody talk about how unworldly efficient James Harden was his last year in OKC when he had more opportunities to play off the ball. Probably one of the absolute best at doing so in the NBA when he was in OKC. Didn't he have like a 65% TS that year? He was an assassin. Yeah he was also a beast with the ball in his hands, but he is more than capable playing off the ball. Hopefully this trade will actually allow him to take his game to yet another level. Steph Curry was much better with Klay playing a larger role and I believe James will be as well with Ty allowing him to vary his attack without being predictable and allowing defenses to completely load up on him.

I lurked the mavs forum yesterday because I was curious about what Cubans plan was and most of it was hate for Houston saying harden and Lawson will more than likely implode because harden doesn't know how to play off the ball. Lol look at his game in fiba and okc. Also said Denver won the trade because papa got us through the season

Lawson creates 3-point opportunities in a similar way that John Wall did for Ariza, it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

There is a difference between able to and want to. Before he got to OKC, he played a very similar style to what we currently see from him, with the exception that he was a good defender. Pull up jumpers was actually a weakness of his. The only reason he did not play a more ball dominant role was because he played with Westbrook and Durant. It is also easy to look hyper efficient when you are playing with two other stars, one of them being possibly one of the best SF's behind Lebron and Bird when all is said and done. Again, the James Harden we see on the Rockets, the one who loves to dominate the ball and break down defenses with exquisite hesitation moves and change of pace is the REAL Harden.

I was hoping there would be more talk about how they'd play together on defense. Here's a decent game by Ty Lawson against Chris Paul:

His defense looks bad and they clearly try to hide him later in the game against a SG. I hope he improves on defensive positioning for us. If he can beat his man over screens without switching (not every time but enough to make the other team have to adjust/keep them guessing), his defense is probably serviceable.

and obviously james wants to as evident by his request for help at guard and approval of Lawson coming to Houston.

Harden will definitely be as good playing off the ball. His spot up shooting has improved over the years(eye test) and Harden's first step is too quick/good for defenders to recover from if they're not set.

A quick pass to Harden when a defender is looking at Lawson and Harden will eat that player alive and same goes for Lawson.

I'm confident that those two will work together great, I'm more curious in seeing how it affects the rest of the team especially Dwight.

Mid-season there were games where Harden looked absolutely exhausted. He had to carry the load for far too long. Terry and Beverley couldn't contribute much more than spot up threes. Lawson's playmaking ability makes the offense better in all facets and both he and Harden will have a much easier time than they did last season. With the offensive talent on our roster, Lawson will get the best looks he's had in his career. Opposing defenses won't be able to key in on anyone, which is just scary. Just adding him probably makes us a top three offense. It'll be ridiculous.
