She can fuss all day long but she has no power to delay. And apparently she didn't as is evidenced by the completed trade and non-guaranteed last season.
And somehow we actually cleared MORE salary for 2016 free agency.....I believe Nick Johnson had $900k guaranteed coming his way. If Durant says "yes", then we have MULTIPLE ways of getting a deal done. SnT using Lawson, cut Lawson, trade Brewer or Ariza or Beverley, etc. In fact, let's get crazy. If Atlanta drops off, trade Brewer and DMo for Al Horford at the deadline. Al's contract expires in 2016. Lawson / Beverley Harden / Thornton Ariza / KJ Horford / TJones Dwight / Capela
Wait it's not guaranteed but the team has the power to keep the last year or drop him right? I mean the way Lowe puts it, it sounds like if lawson thinks he can get more next year he can opt out to become a FA.
The cap raise next year doesn't matter though because if he's straightened up and plays well, we'll just make his final year guaranteed. He won't sniff that cap jump until 2017
Yes and it is also evidence of how serious Lawson's issues are. What I'm saying. Exactly. What Lowe says doesn't make any sense. If Lawson is cut that means he hasn't performed and is still hunted by his demons. In which case he wont' get paid even with the cap rise. It's not a player option it's a team option and Lawson didn't have any incentive- besides changing teams. And it's a characteristic of alcoholics and addicts to find excuses for their problems. Maybe Lawson believes in his mind that Denver is the cause of his addiction and as soon as he changes teams it will all be solved magically.
The power is all with the team. I think Lowe just meant that with next seasons salary cap bonanza that even if the Rockets cut Ty that he could get more from some desperate team in free agency.
I'm not saying your wrong but you really should hear all the facts before just slamming somebody's name and proclaiming them a full blown alcoholic. Nobody knows what's going on in this guys personal life we all just need to wait and see. One thing to make assumptions but your kinda acting like you know for fact all the facts. Tbh I think Ty Lawson is just banking on himself to to not get into any trouble in Houston and get a fat contract after this season and he wanted to be in Houston rather than go to a bad team like New York and LA that's being reported.

I would assume that guarantee date is pretty early....just enough time to find out what Durant/Horford are doing.
The great thing about Lawson's contract is that being non-guarunteed means that they can chase KD without the risk of losing Ty if KD does not chose the Rockets. If he choses then they could just cut Ty or trade him to OKC in a S&T deal. OKC would get one hell of a trade asset or a player.
If his problems were that bad why would he make his 2nd year non-guarantee? Thinking more about Lawson and his situation I think he is just a 20something year old who has a lot of money on his hands and likes to party. He just happened to get caught more so than others. By making his 2nd year non-guarantee it seems like he believes in himself to put up good numbers again this year to get a fat paycheck when the salary cap increases.
I'm not slamming him. I'm interpreting the situation. WE have very few facts (I mean a logical person would call another regular person an alcoholic with two DUIs in six months and two priors .But famous basketball players that are about to play in your team need even further evidence to be called that ) . But the teams involved, the agents and the NBPA know a lot more on the case. Their behaviour here is hugely strong evidence that his issues is very very serious. Letting go of guaranteed money. Trading him by all means necessary because of toxic effect on young players. Trades offered for such a big talent as him. NBPA complete silence with such a powerful agent that stands to lose a lot himself.
