the unguaranteed, and the NBPA silence => alcoholism. If the two DUIs in 6 months weren't enough proof. That also explains why Denver REALLY didn't want to have him around their other young players. Happy Walters isn't an idiot. And he has worked with the NBPA before.
Even in the A-Rod case the players association didn't have legislative power to stop it. They just threw a major hissy at A-Rod until he relented. Truth be known he didn't really want to give up the money anyway. One other thing. There is a big big difference between the NBA players union and the MLB players union. MLB has the strongest players union in sports.

Wow. What a trade. So the Rox either get Lawson or a valuable asset in his contract. Morey is amazing with his ability to facilitate these moves while maintaining flexibility.
oh trust me. The new union chairwoman wouldn't let this go so easilly like that. She would delay and make at least a huge fuss about this. Because it sets a bad precedent. (any player having problems => make their deal unguaranteed).
I've never been a Ty Lawson fan but I can't deny that for what we gave up this was the move to make. We just need to hope Lawson stays away from they other MD(#3) guy we all loved while he was playing for the Rockets.

Fun Fact: Happy Walters is also Corey Brewer's agent. Corey and Ty are tight from their Denver days (daze? jk) Corey...and if we can get JT...I think we have enough solid dudes to help Ty stay on course.
So he is highly incentivized to play very well and earn the last year. I don't see him getting cut unless he stinks it up.
Considering the legal and off-the-court issues he's having right now, I'd say that the NBAPA knew that they didn't have any legs to stand on with that argument. Also, the fact that Lawson was agreeable to the terms says a lot about his determination to get back on the court, and play well for us.
