No problem dude. To be honest I've been stunned that it took this long for this detail to surface. I was told very firmly that we weren't trading for Lawson and owe him 2 years.
This really doesn't get any better than this, does it? I hadn't even considered that if, by February, Lawson is a complete mess we could flip him elsewhere as salary relief.
At this point it's just laughable what Morey is doing. We got the best player, best trade chip, and when you consider the non-guaranteed nature of 2nd round picks, maybe an equal level pick. We added a top 10 PG, and still have the ability to make a run at Durant next year. Silly.
a) Lawson gets another DUIs/doesn't recover/crashes and burns -> cut b) Lawson gets his act together but has not good perfomance to justify contract because of battling alcoholism -> cut and get a smaller contract c) Lawson recovers perfectly and performs, we check on Durant he doesn't want to come -> keep d) Lawson recovers perfectly and performs , we check on Durant he wants to come...-> ??

Here's the only thing that happened here. We gave up our 2016 first for their 2017 second. That's a slight asset trade in their favor. This happened because Denver was going to trade Lawson to Lakers for Nick Young and trash. Morey had offered the deal sans the pick earlier and Denver didn't bite. As I told you Denver was willing to settle for one small asset...the pick. They wound up settling for basically half an asset...the pick upgrade....they had to give up their 2017 second to get that. And Morey closed the deal on those terms with Lawson agreeing to make his last year non-guaranteed.
Lawson must really be committed/sure of himself. You don't make a move like this unless you really plan on cleaning up your act.
if the NBPA didn't step in that means the guy has very serious issues. Like very serious. Because their chairman wouldn't allow something like this so easily.

Does he have a drinking problem or just a dumbass and likes to drink and drive. I believe those are two very different things and the former being the worse.
Man, of all the win in this trade the fact that the final year wont be guaranteed is the most surprising to me. Didn't even consider it a possibility. Wow. Just.... wow.
