Durant more likely to come over in free agency. OKC has the 3rd best odds in Vegas to win the title. Even if KD says he'll leave OKC, the Thunder would be better off going for the title this season than they would be trading him.

And again this thread... Am I the only one who remembers Durant screaming into Dwight's face ''YOU ARE A p***y'' just like it was yesterday? Because it basically was yesterday... This very same season that just ended. If Durant leaves OKC it's for the East conference. And team that has Howard is probably the last place he want's to go.

Every time you make a KD thread our chances decrease.

KD will most likely stay, & if he leaves that'll be to DC.

Can't sit around & wait for Durant.

Ha - way to have a sense of humor about it. I'll play just because your at very least being a good sport about the heckling from the bleachers.

Durant would only be available to us through FA. There is no scenario outside of trading Harden where Durant would be a Rocket.

Your best bet would be that Harden would spend the summer reading the Dwayne Wade biography to try to learn how to convince Durant to come to Houston to win not one, not two, not three....

He might not even be that good considering all of his injuries. I'd obviously take my chances considering he's the 2nd best player in the league when healthy but it isn't as enticing as before.

Best way to get Durant to Houston is FIRST hope that next season there is a power struggle between Westbrook and Durant.

Westbrook came into his own this season while Durant was out. Let's see if Westbrook can NOW mesh his game back with Durant. I think this is something to really watch.

If there is a power struggle there (e.g. Westbrook is shooting too much and Durant isn't getting shots) and the chemistry starts to crack, then Durant could be looking for a way out.

That is the key. You have to hope Durant sees the partnership with Westbrook is not working.

THEN, Durant can look back at "old friend" Harden as a good fall-back landing spot.

I'm sure after congress votes it down, Obama can get'r done with an executive order.

Barring a S&T with OKC (which I see no chance of that happening) it would be extremely hard for the Rockets to clear the cap space to sign KD with Lawson's contract. I would think at the very least Ariza, Brewer, AND Bev would have to be sent out without any incoming salary back. They're all plus assets so it's not out of the realm of possibility for DM to do it if KD wanted to come here, but it'd be hard still and we'd lose quite a bit of depth to do it.

This move for Lawson speaks "all-in" now because we just sacrificed flexibility for next summer, but again with how DM structured the contracts he'll always have options if an opportunity present itself.

Westbrook shoots 50 times per game, so Durant can not even touch the ball.

I am not by any means any expert but can't we just wait on re-signing Dwight since we have his Bird rights and sign Durant first?

He'd still have something like a 23-24m cap hold so no that wouldn't do the trick. The only clear advantage we'd have is that Dmo & Jones are both RFA's so their cap hold would be small in comparison the contracts they'd get so you could hypothetically wait to sign those guys to their deals after signing KD with cap space. In short Dwight's cap hold would still be too large to do anything really....

There is no way Durant stays in OKC. He already knows that they care about money more than winning and they have shown that they aren't loyal(Harden and Brooks).

Still gonna have a large cap hold. So either you re-sign him or renounce him.
