Why wasn't Tony Stark or Hawkeye in Cap 2? With the events that transpire in the movie there is no reason it shouldn't supersede whatever BS they are doing at the moment.

I know it's a "dumb question" but only because there is a "dumb answer".

Good question... this is the best explanation I could find:

More or less the same reason Cap wasn't in Iron Man 3. "He was busy". The directors have said this movie takes place over the course of 3 days, which is why there wasn't enough time for others to help. It's a whatever explanation but it could be worse.

Also we'll find out why Hawkeye and Hulk haven't been around in Avengers 2. Joss Whedon has said there's a reason for that and both have major roles in the movie.

I FINALLY saw this over the weekend. Very disappointed. I went in with huge expectations based on the reputation and was let down.

    Lots of mediocrity.

    Yeah...okay.

Opinions can still be ignorant and incorrect.

How can a matter of taste be incorrect? And ignorant is definitely an inappropriate term to use.

    Black Widow was terrible.
Robert Redford is terrible. Knew right away he was the bad guy.

I enjoyed the movie, but was let down because I was expecting it to be amazing. Guardians of the Galaxy was definitely better.

Now you enjoyed it? You just said it was mediocre. Make up your mind.

And saying Guardians is better means what? You're comparing arguably 2 of the top 3 marvel movies to each other.

    How were they "terrible"?

I didn't say the movie was mediocre first of all, I said "lots of mediocrity." The mediocrity being Black Widow, Robert Redford and the overall cheesiness/predictability of the Hydra plot.

Anyway, even if the movie was mediocre overall in my opinion, that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable. Less than mediocre would be not enjoyable.

You edited your post, so here are my responses:

It means it was was better. I personally ranked Winter Soldier behind GG, Avengers 1, Iron Man 1. I put it in a tier of Thor and Avengers 2. Edit: Forgot CapAp 1. Might put that ahead of 2, but certainly in the same tier.

They were terrible because they performances were weak in my opinion. Scarlet is just a weak actress in general in my opinion and Robert Redford is the same, cool California guy no matter what role he is in.

    Bad taste does exist.

But I pretty much agree with you, it was an OK movie, nothing amazing or anything.

I generally like your posts but you get very offended easily when people don't agree with you. That's his opinion of a movie, which doesn't agree with the general consensus, but there's no correct or incorrect answer when it comes to taste. Just respect his opinion and discuss it without coming off rude.

I think a big problem of the criticism regarding the plot being predictable is that you know the fallout of the movie already so you read between the lines. That's a problem with the MCU being intertwined and a continuous chronological story. If you skip a movie, you'll miss a plot point that is touched upon in subsequent movies. You lose the impact of some plots if you were to watch the movies out of order.

You just summed it up. He knew what was going to happen coming in. Thus the movie was "disappointing" or "mediocre" or whatever. He already knew Shield was Hydra and vice versa.

I'm not offended, I just have strong convictions. :)

I didn't know going in that Shield had been infiltrated by Hydra. If that was revealed in a subsequent Marvel movie, I missed it. I knew something bad happened with Shield. If Avengers 2 ever made it clear what that was, I either missed it or forgot it.

I love when people get so offended and defensive about a differing opinion on something like a movie. It's always funny.

Um, he doesn't owe you anything, King of the Internet. His opinion (yes, it's subjective) shouldn't injure you.

I'm glad I saw this one when it was fairly new, so I had no real expectations. I loved a lot of the action sequences, but plot and side characters were 'meh,' so I'd agree with justtxyank on that part at least.

But I totally understand why CA:WS is so popular. Great set pieces and choreography.
