You are right but from a strictly bball point of view, not including salary/DUI issues this is an extremely lopsided deal. Morey does it again! Suck it you doubters!
Don't even need to use the MLE we have Terry's bird rights. We could sign him up to $8 million a year if we wanted! Maybe do a 2 year, $16 million deal with the second year fully nonguaranteed. Terry gets a bunch of money and we get a great trade asset for next year's offseason. Wow, just wow.

You don't find it odd we did NOTHING.... Were not concerned about losing Smith and then as soon as KJ signs we get Lawson? No, I think this was brewing long before the second DUI.
This means Dwight gets more lobs and we get a PG who can shoot threes and free throws unlike Rondo (although I am aware he was never really in the discussion). So he can play entire fourth quarters without worrying about hack-a-whoever. And also, this helps us if teams decide to play small ball. Defense will be a problem though - Lawson is not a Bledsoe so hopefully P. Bev can compensate for that. But basically with a higher assist to turnover ratio in his career and an over 34% three point shooting percentage last season we have got a playmaker. LETS GO ROCKETS!!
Lawson wasn't worth giving up Jones, not with the DUIs and Denver's desire to get rid of him. Great job by Morey. Can we start the season early?

Risky, but potentially good trade. If Lawson can keep his head on straight, then we may have finally filled our need at PG. Hopefully Lawson can get his drinking issues resolved.
What this move does IMO Extends dwight's career, the amount of easy buckets Lawson will get dwight will be insane. He had good finishers in Denver, now he has one of the best finishers in NBA history in dwight. Allows harden to expend less energy on offense. Now harden can carry us less and focus on becoming a better two way player. We all know harden has the ability to play lock down defense, now he has no excuses as he's not going to expend that energy on offense. Makes beverley fit into his natural role: As an off the bench change of pace defensive stopper. Now pat can be unleashed for 20 minutes a time without having to worry about fatigue or injury.
Very possible, but highly unlikely. I expect him to get a 25-50 game suspension. Which might be the best for him to get his life together. It's a risk for Morey, but very low considering what we gave up.
We lost one head band brother but gained another Teams wouldn't know what to do if Lawson came off the bench
Wow! Granted, the Nuggets were desperate to unload Lawson, but that's still a helluva steal by Morey and the Rockets front office. They didn't even have to give up T-Jones. On that topic, I think I'm starting to understand why Morey couldn't promise Josh Smith a certain amount of playing time next season. If he knew he had a Lawson deal on the table that didn't require T-Jones(or Dekker and Harrell for that matter), Smith might've had trouble getting 20 minutes a night in a Rockets uniform. But as much as I hated to see him leave(especially for the Clippers), if the tradeoff was getting Lawson and keeping T-Jones, that's fine by me.
