Again, Correa drove in the eventual game winning run and made a huge play to end the game according to any knowledgeable baseball fan. Horror of horrors he hurried the throw after making that big play.
This is about his overall play not just the last play or what ended up being the "game winning run" driven in. Correa is a freak but he isn't playing to his full potential lately is the only point I was making. I guess only a " knowledgeable" fan can look the other way and deny any bumps in the road. Are those rose colored glasses prescription?
Guys, i am a big Correa fan, especially as he is puertorican, but Mick is saying something that is the TRUTH. Correa, lately is struggling, since he was moved to the third spot he is hitting .212 and an OPS around .600. He is REALLY struggling and is when we need him most because Springer is injured. He will hit again, and a lot, but RIGHT NOW HE IS STRUGGLING. Defensively, HE IS NOT STRUGGLING. With another first basemen (not named Carter) he probably has 1 less error, plus he covers a loooooot of ground, and has a great arm, but offensively, he IS STRUGGLING.
Astros have the best production out of SS this season per fWAR so far while Villar and Gonzalez have played nearly half the innings there. Correa isn't to his full potential, yet, but...read that first sentence again while I find my rainbow orange bifocals.
You do understand no player ever plays their best non-stop? Every player has weeks that they suck and weeks that they are great. It doesn't mean they are struggling - it often is just meaningless statistical noise. 8 games is a not a sample size to evaluate anything.
I rarely want or call for a bean... but he deserves it. He slid late and to the left of the bag and could have caused damage. Cheers to him coming up later with no one on base.
