The first biggest roster need is a quality veteran PG (Lowry, Rondo) that'll assist & create for others. No knock on Bev but I'd like to see his energy coming off the bench. The 2nd biggest roster need is a suitable PF (David West, Zach Randolph, Luis Scola etc) that can hit a midrange jumper & post up. this is pretty much my favorite post of CF since I've been on here may have to add it to my sig. its so much truth and was so easy to make happen.
No. Rockets keeping the NOLA lottery pick and their own 1st Rd pick plus all there assets put them in exactly the same position as they were when they acquired Harden. A lottery pick (Lamb 1.12), the Rockets pick (Steven Adams) and the expiring contract of Kevin Martin...Rockets have better talent too package than that. And really before this season, if you told me the Rockets could acquire Corey Brewer & Josh Smith before the deadline...I'd be ecstatic. I think Prigioni & KJ will make an impact on this team. I trust the time and work the front office puts into dissecting every minut detail of a player when going through evalutations, they don't miss very often at finding the right system fits.
So in other words, we're potentially sacrificing another season for more star chasing next year? And when we strike out again, is Morey still the genius he's proclaimed to be? CLEARY he doesn't learn from his mistakes. Those assets he's sitting on could've been used to help us THIS year. Prigioni is pushin 40. KJ is playing a position we don't need him at. Other teams like Portland plugged up their holes at the deadline. Why exactly is Morey trading for wings when we have a 6'6 center who can't catch or make a layup consistently? Even when Dwight gets back we still have no true center backing him up. Not sure why we're still stockpiling assets while our team needs aren't being addressed.
I don't think this poster is here any longer, but the fact he made great points that so many of us have been saying still stands.
He made terribly dumb points. Hence why he's not here anymore. Let's not give credit to morons. There is valid criticism of morey to be made though.
We need movement on offense. Coaching? Focus on adding role players as opposed to chasing stars---(people used us not having role players as an excuse in the other thread---I wonder why?) I saw valid points in the post... The rockets don't know what they are doing out there, what we all saw was clear as day imo. Morey is a smart dude, I for the life of me don't understand why its taking him so long to key in on this stuff.
He made some good points, and we DEFINITELY need another PG, but if we got Chris Bosh and he was healthy this team would DOMINATE the clippers. Bosh would actually be able to neutralize Blake, Blake has just been killing the Rockets. PF and PG has been our biggest problem for years, it doesn't help that Bev and Dmo get hurt on top of it being a weakness.
we need a starting calibre Pg so we can move bev to the bench. A pG that can MAKE PLAYS and let Harden play off ball more.
A Chris Bosh wouldn't fix the lack of gameplan, discipline on offense and defense, the role players, shooting specialists, terrible FT shooters, coaching.
This thread needs to be like stickied. even though OP probably wasn't the best of posters, it doesn't dismiss his points.
No. Eat your crow, you've been wrong wayyyyy too many times about everything. "BUT BUT WHAT WILL WE DO WITHOUT BEVERLEY STOPPING OPPOSING PG's?" uh we just beat Chris Paul and the Clippers. "BUT BUT MOREY DOESNT KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING" uh all of his new acquisitions: Ariza, Terry, Brewer, Smith, and Prigioni played a huge part in us making history. GG This thread should be stickied to show how to not be a bad poster, a la OP
Yea I'd label you delusional. I think Morey's done a reasonable job, although he does too much gambling. Take for instance this offseason. Instead of looking for a decent pg via draft, he bet the house on a undrafted euro guard with absolutely no NBA experience. Then he drafted a PF that may need back surgery. Not only this, but he low balled Smith and ended up losing him to our rival for less $$$. Had our priorities not been chasing LMA we'd most likely in a better position I think OP's point applied then and somewhat now
How'd he bet the house? You mean a SF, Dekker? How'd he lowball Smith when Smith decided to take less money? Clippers are gonna play Smith more minutes by having him play SF. Kay.
All this fuss yet OP would wet his pants if we had landed that 3 superstar. BBS armchair GMs are the best entertainers.
Morey lowballed Smith which made Smith want to leave. Morey offered more to Llull, McDaniels, Beverley and Brewer. Morey valued those other players more. So Smith left out of principle and didn't care what the Clippers could pay him.
Man, do you realize how ridiculous your arguments are? You think drafting a PG in his prime with tons of championship experience is a risk but not a freaking kid coming out of college? And how did he "bet the house"? Did we lose any assets or even miss out on any starting caliber PGs in the process? Besides the fact that your point about Dekker is a rumor, your implication that he knew about this injury prior to the draft and drafted him anyway is just as unsubstantiated. We lowballed Smith but he left for less money? What in the world... I thought we all understood that he left for a clearer and bigger role as the definite primary big off the bench in LAC. In other words, Morey would have to promise him something he couldn't or trade away some of our big depth. Goodness gracious
