I'm not sure what was going on with him and the Nuggets during the season, but I remember he missed a practice after the all star game because he was still in Las Vegas. Add in the DUI's and the video clips of his reaction during the draft and you have troubling pattern of questionable behavior that most teams would avoid. Not sure if posted yet: Ty Lawson's history of off-court incidents during his time with Nuggets
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Ty Lawson is ordered to submit to continuous alcohol monitoring and will be going to an alcohol rehab program. <a href="http://t.co/QGh1PUic86">pic.twitter.com/QGh1PUic86</a></p>— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) <a href="https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/622142456952422401">July 17, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
July 13, 2015: Because of his "traveling schedule," it is announced that Lawson will miss his youth skills camp. July 14, 2015: Lawson is arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of drinking and driving after an officer spotted him traveling "at a high rate of speed" at 1:30 a.m. Wow, those two back to back is really sad. Couldn't make it to help some kids out because he was too busy getting drunk.
I've said this before, Hakeem wasn't exactly pleasant the years leading up to the 92/93 season. He almost got traded for Barkley and was very unhappy. Obviously, Lawson is behaving like a much bigger turd than Hakeem did in the off season leading to 92/93. He seems selfish and self absorbed but he isn't assaulting people. There is some hope that Ty will grow up. This is a guy that was the lead player for a NC team that won a national championship. He can play but can he grow up? No analytics can tell you that, not yet at least but in a tough Western conference, he might be worth the risk. No Rondo (instead of no homo).
Ive seen and know worse....he is a rebel but not totally out of control. I would still consider him an asset to the rockets only after he is waived or we can trade for him a bag of peanuts, Tjones and a 2nd. Overblown, kneejerk reaction by so called goodie goods that have no sense of thr real world other than their neighborhood and tv .smh
DMo gets injured, still flies back to the opposite side of the world to participate in a youth basketball camp. Lawson decides he wants to get wasted, cancels his participation in a youth basketball camp.
While he certainly could be an asset to the team and he'd definitely help from a basketball perspective, it's silly to characterize those who have issue with his behavior as "goodie goods" that over react. Are there worse things people have done? Sure, but just because that happens (and worse things) in the real world as you say doesn't make it less of a character issue. You might be singing a different tune if someone you loved were killed by a drunk driver. There are reasons why the laws are harsh on these violations.
wow polar opposites mentally and phisically lol. if we get lawson and he gets out of hand, dmo will just chokeslam his little ass. no need to bring dwight and dorsey
