After spending a lot of time researching different options, I think our best move at this time is to sit pat, at least on the "PG playmaker" front. I don't see the right player at the right costs. Better to let the season get started, and see how things play out. A team will underperform and suddenly an "untouchable" will become available.

That leaves us with a big question though: what do we do with Papa and Prigioni?

The defensive metrics for their respective careers are very similar and even now metrics are limited and do not take into account poor rotations and switches. A big part of the reason Collison wasnt kept in Dallas was that he was a very poor defender.

If you believe that Collison is a better defender, so be it, but it certainly isn't absurd to believe the opposite like the poster I cited claimed.

Collison is not even close to being as good a basketball player as Ty Lawson has been. Indeed if you look at a lot of the offensive and defensive stats for Collison, you end up with an average NBA player. There is a reason he has played for 5-6 different teams and hasn't stuck anywhere long term. He doesn't do a good job running a team.

If Morey wants to get Collison, I will trust his judgment. He has access to information that I do not, and quite frankly, his objective view of players has proven to be very good as well.

My main beef is with people that think Collison is an NBA starting quality point guard in the Western Conference playoffs... He just isn't.

make the miami trade... anderson can now be of use (w smith gone) and its worth eating the last year of Chalmers contract to get 3 years of Shabazz at rookie contract rate... Gotta dish Prigs n Kpap before they become guaranteed...

So Mannix leaks that three teams are hot to trot for Lawson... then the head coach of the Nuggets says they want him back..... Then Morey; uhh I mean his puppet, says Lawson is basically "meh" with the Rockets.... Claims Lawson is a poor set shooter (which isn't true BTW) and a poor offensive side kick to Harden.

This reminds me of two old people arguing over a $2 used shirt at a garage sale.... "I paid $50 for it new".... "Is that a stain? That's a stain, I will give you $1"

Just for example, DRPM last year was +0.3 for Collison and -2.3 for Lawson. BPM for Lawson is usually in the -2 range, for Collison in the -1 range. It's not a earth shattering difference in absolute terms but in terms of looking at it as a Bell curve, Lawson is in the bottom decile of all PGs; Collison is simply below average.

Lawson is certainly a better player. He also comes at more than twice the cost, and is certainly not more than twice the player even before you consider his character. Overall, Collison is simply an average to above average PG as an aggregate while Lawson is knocking at All Star production offensively. Lawson as a whole was the #6 PG by RPM or so because of his amazing passing. So I think you and I probably agree on most accounts. But to say that Collison is a much worse defender would be an error.

If you can hide Lawson on defense, you can hide Collison. Lawson is a tremendous passer but both PGs can handle the rock and take care of the ball. Collison is a good shooter and a Collison/Beverley platoon would be an excellent way to get 70% of the production for 30% of the cost without the extracurricular headaches.

Obviously you see my bias here - Lawson would be preferable if not for the character issues - I was just pointing out that defensively Lawson is among the worst for guards, Collison is merely below average.

It's more of a question of what Denver wants, I guess.

The playoff roster should be the training camp roster.

Rockets need to get Lawson. If that means parting with DMo over Jones then so be it. I hope Morey's not hesitating because he's overvaluing DMo

    Really?

This roster is significantly better than the one he went into last season with and that was the best season the team has enjoyed in 2 decades.

VLive is praying that Lawson comes to Houston. Harden and Lawson would boost sales exponentially just by themselves

Really what? That it's going to be even harder to win in the West with an improved Spurs, Grizz and Clippers team as well as the defending NBA champions whom we could only muster 1 win against last year? Yes the West is going to be even more difficult than last year and we have gotten worse.

Imagine this guy in the backcourt setting Harden up for spot up 3s. Harden might average 30 because his shot attempts would increase.

    I think DMO if healthy and 30mpg is a 17/9 guy at 50% fg and 35% 3pt.

The only other players that did that last year was Pau Gasol and Lamarcus Aldridge. Pau only took 26 threes so he doesnt even really count.
