I think the military should spring for bulletproof glass on their recruiting centers and they should allow the NCO's that work there to be armed or at least have the option. The same goes for other military installations. Terrorist types are always looking for soft targets, we should at least try and make that difficult.
Does it matter if he was part of ISIS or just a regular Islamist? Here is more on his motivation: https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...2ff26a-2c97-11e5-bd33-395c05608059_story.html
My personal speculation is that he wanted to commit suicide from a recent event (gf breakup?). At this point, he chose through his own religious reasoning that if he's going to die, why not take a chance that killing the infidels and maybe...just maybe...his pain will be relieved by the paradise and virgins awaiting. I don't think it was trueISIS related because they don't care whether you kill military or not. Terror is what they want. There were plenty of civilians and yet he chose to ignore those targets. All that said...Radical Islam is pure trash religion. Killing people...the father of children no less...so you can have virgins in paradise is just beyond pure crack pot logic.
Actually I think that ISIS has called specifically for targeting military and police. That said I think it's still much too early to say this was ISIS related.
WHAT IS THE MOTIVE? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BMrrHwboxT4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
We had a 45 year long cold war with the USSR. Do you know why they lost? I am not worried about Russia or China blowing up my city. What I am worried about is global tension. Nothing like creating economic instability in your country by having relentless homegrown terror attacks. The constant wars and turmoil is what makes the middle east a dump.
wtf! <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Marine Corps Recruiting Command has instructed Marine recruiters to not wear uniforms at work, part of force protection since Chattanooga</p>— luis martinez (@LMartinezABC) <a href="https://twitter.com/LMartinezABC/status/622202238707048448">July 18, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
And what do you think is the way forward to stopping this relentless homegrown terror? I see a lot of attacks on Islam from the ATW's but no solution or way forward. Is the answer to invade Syria and Iraq again and fight ISIS and other extremist groups in a never ending war? How about understanding what drives people to become jihadists. It's not "Inspire" magazine. All the research shows that these young men who join radical jihadist movements were "radicalized" prior to seeing any kind of propaganda. But instead we have people talking about Islam as if it is some sort of disease. It's not, the desire has been there all along. It's no different that those who riot when they get a chance. People are capable of doing unspeakable evil and it comes from within - not from their religion, but from their experiences and view of the world. What ISIS does is to capitalize on that and turn up the volume by showing them pictures of dead Muslim babies over and over again. ISIS is the symptom. The problem is deeper. If you really care about stopping terrorism, you all would talk about the problem and what's really going on here, instead of denigrating Islam. At this point, it's highly probably than anyone in the world committing this type of terrorist act knows about ISIS and likely has at least been indirectly influenced. So while ISIS may not have been involved, you could certainly say it was an influencer. This is how well they run their propaganda machine.
You're jumping to conclusions. I was responding to those who believe ISIS and their influences are only a "JV" and believe they are not very significant. Those are extremely ignorant comments. Al Queda was once pretty insignificant. To follow with your tangent, the problem is a two pronged issue. The first being a region centered around a revolving generation of people who refuse to catch up with the rest of the world. This has less to do with religion and more of a life style. Its the intolerance of progressivism that keeps them in the dark ages. There is simply not a lot that can be done about it other than keeping the disease localized. Islam is not an evil religion that needs to be stomped out. There are more peaceful and tolerant Muslims than not. However Islam in itself opens itself up to extremists. While Christianity and Judism has its extreme sides, its rare to find any who advocate playing judge, jury and executioner. Even in the deepest points of time for Christianity in this country, it was never ok to take someone out back and stone them for their sins. Even extreme Christians wouldn't allow this to happen.
Of course not. Not even for that of terrorist Muslims, of which, unfortunately, there are way too many. But g1184 shows his true colors.
Lets see...radical Islam attacks and kills people...again... The usual muslems come in here to defend their religion by attacking posters, attacking other religions, defending their religion by saying we aren't addressing the problem when they themselves have no answers to fixing their religion. Now they can even blame ISIS as though it's foundation is not part of their religion. Do you want to know the answer to fixing the problem - we all become muslems or die. Nice religion. Problem is that's not going to happen. If Christian crackpots (and there are many out there calling themselves Christians that are crackpots) were out there killing people, true Christians would be up in arms saying this is not the Christian way - not saying "check out the muslems", "this poster just hates Christians", "the problem is you don't understand Christian problems that drives them to this". Typical D&D thread.
