I think we would have ultimately given him more money. He just had to wait. We needed to leave the MLE open to scare off the suitors for KJ. If we tied up the MLE, someone would have swooped in on him knowing that we no longer had the capacity to match. With the MLE, probably no offers for him would come, and we lock him up on a reasonable contract, maybe use a little to sign our second rounder maybe, and we could shovel the rest to Smith. He'd just have to wait for things to play out. Of course, that begs the question -- why would KJ McDaniels be higher on the priority list than Josh Smith? Which might have been what he thought of it. But, in the end I think the Clippers benefited for the Pistons contract the same way we hoped we would -- that Smith didn't care about the money because he's getting money from Detroit anyway. So, he picked the situation he thought was best for him.
Damn, so one of the reasons Smoove left is because he doesn't think the Rockets are legit title contenders. I guess he felt the WCF appearance was fool's gold.
OH well..give me more clint capela. Happy to screen and roll and defend w/o jacking 3's. I'll miss some of Josh's ball handling ability but I won't miss those dribbles off his foot/leg/just flat out losing the ball for whatever reason.
This is BS. Just because we didn't blow all our money prior to giving him an offer. Clips gave whatever they COULD is equivalent to "I only have $1.00 left from my $100 bill that I spent. Would you take it"
Smoove was our best PF in the playoffs last year but losing him doesn't mean we're currently weak at PF. And, to be honest I would much rather we dedicate our bench 3PAs to Thornton than to smoove. (originally posted this in wrong thread)
looks like they're pretty close to doing that. Smith doesn't change that. it's not like they didn't try to re-sign him
He just doesnt get it...The Clippers are cursed. They are the Clippers for a reason. Regardless of season, ownership, or players, they always find ways to fck things up. FACT. I feel bad for Smoove, b/c he was the only one who fell for fool's gold.
Looking at it from the Rockets' perspective, this team might end up being a 5th or 6th seed and getting bounced in the 1st round. Maybe if a guy like Lawson is acquired, Rockets could get into the 2nd round, but that seems to be the most we could expect from this squad.
Too bad that Kwame Da Fool was parted with *ACTUAL GOLD* when he lost his rent money betting against the Rockets in Game 6. In appreciation of Josh Smith, let's take a walk down memory lane: Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hWUGnUyat7Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Thanks Josh, for putting Kwame da Klown back down where he belongs.
Relax Rox fans.....This will be an addition while subtraction move by the end of next year. You will see how Smith responds in LA and you will see how the Rox responds by letting him go with DMO running the PF. We are still in good position. Top 4 in western conference still.
Signing Josh Smith to a short contract -- and making Tjones expendable in a trade -- makes the team flexible. Morey tried to use his flexibility here, but something snapped. Now, I don't know if Smith gave Morey a heads-up or even considered returning before signing with the Clippers. But, faced with a binary choice -- you can keep either McDaniels or Smith, but not both -- which would you choose? I'm not upset about Smith leaving, but I think he has more value than McDaniels at least. And, who knows, if there was an element of respect in Smith's decision-making, he may have felt disrespected if the Rockets put the flexibility needed to keep McDaniels as a higher priority over bringing him back. In which case, the pursuit of flexibility actually produces the opposite result. But, if Morey really thinks McDaniels is more important to the Rockets' future than Smith, then there really is no problem.
Didn't you say the Rockets were going to sweep GSW? Lol Then sweep Cleveland to win the championship? Smh Also, weren't you one of the people that called Josh Smith a thug and said you didn't want him on this team? You have zero credibility. As far as this upcoming season: Do you think the Rockets are legitimate title contenders? Do you think the Rockets will make it out of the 1st round this year? How far do you think this team will go? Also, where do you rank the Clippers now? Are they better than the Rockets or worse? For once, grow a backbone and make some predictions and stand by them instead of being a spineless troll.
No, I did not call Josh Smith a thug who I did not want on the team, or anything remotely similar - I wanted him on the team. Anyhow, I have prepared a special Friday afternoon work of art in anticipation of a half-hearted comeback from Kwame Da Klown. I’m KWA-ME da GAM-blin MAN I live in a GAR-bage CAN I like to troll HOUS-ton But I’m Always LOS-in' And not a real Clutch-FAN! On game 6 I bet on L-A But those Rockets CAME to PLAY Which wasn't so FUN-ny and I lost all me MON-ney And now I gots rent to PAY!
OK YOU KNOW WHAT? I will make a C&D Scrap Metal 2 dollar bet with anyone RIGHT NOW that Terrence Jones will be the better basketball player with a better season than Josh Smith next year. That's right. Terrence Jones you "grass is always greener on the other side" hyperventilating worrywarts! TJ > J Smoove. With D-Mo, it's not even fair. J Smoove isn't even allowed to pick up D-Mo's dry cleaning. But too many of you need to get corrected on TJ. $2 bill bet. Let's go. People losing their mind over Josh Smith. smh <iframe width="210" height="157" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cOYGYHc10L8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
