That's still bad if you're looking at those stats in a vaccume.

Additionally, if Tucker gets just 1-2 more extra base hits, his slugging will be well over .300.

Tucker's .197 BABIP tells us he just might be due for some positive regression.

Nottingham went deep again. Seems like he's gonna make short work of Lancaster.

Let's hope. Either C or 1B...we need help. Maybe late 2016 at his current progression?

2017 realistically. Lets hope he can develop at C or 1B like you said, but he might ultimately end up as a DH for us.

I would think they ultimately want Nottingham to develop as a catcher. Big strong catchers that compete offensively and catch a good game are hard to get.

They think Nottigham can stick at catcher. He doesn't play there because they want to limit impact on his body. Physically he is great for behind the plate and should be adequate at a minimum. Hard to really say when he will be called up. He hasn't hit well until this season and no one knows if he will tail off with higher talented and older competition in AA and AAA.

Would you think that development of a catcher would take longer than other positions? I would think that it would, taking into account the calling of the games.

This definitely explains some things. Probably has never really had adversity in his life. Hopefully he is stronger for it but I worry he might be pretty fragile mentally. If he is now stronger then I hope he still has a ton of passion for the game and hasn't lost any fire to become great.

When you have the mentality of why should I fret when God is so good you may lose a little edge and lose track of goals you originally set out to do. I was always amazed Tebow was able to play with such passion and violence even though he is a choir boy off the field. Really amazing how is still able to remain so driven and passionate about a game considering most things in his life are probably menial except for football.

Hopefully Mark has the same passion and drive for the game since he has loads more talent than Tebow ever will so he needs to realize he can spread his word and message as he gets better. The better more successful he gets the more people he can touch.

Good luck Mark! Hopefully you can contribute to the Astros sooner rather than later. Was a cool story but I am not sure if it makes more concerned he will ever make it or less. I guess time will tell...

    good lord (no pun intended).

that article inspires very little confidence in him.

even tim tebow would say that article is a bit too much.

Tebow would probably agree 100% with what Appel wrote. Essentially Appel recognized that he finds peace in Christ.

Aren't most games called by the manager/bench now?

I know Hinch does... Matheny does... Girardi does... I think Bochy does...seems like that's the growing trend (along with ex-catchers being managers).

I dont really have confidence Appel can come up and do anything but get rocked. He is on the verge of being a huge bust and that article only worsens his outlook
