Thanks J.R. I can rest a little easier knowing that that is a done deal. Still going to miss Smoove though!
Morey told him, "You're not going to start. We're going to play Jones and Montiejunas ahead of you. We're not going to pay you as much as Brewer. You can forget that. We're not paying you the MLE. Our MLE is for Llull or McDaniels."
Maybe Smith is planning to do a "Deandre-commitment" to the Clippers. Nonetheless, this will be a huge loss for us but i feel that someone will step up and fill that spot he left behind.
Smith was gonna get paid by Detroit no matter what we paid him MLE or not. So many Chicken Littles here. My ignore list is getting rather bloated!
That's honestly the most hilarious post I've ever read. At best Dekker is a worse shooting Luke Babbitt. Rockets get to the West Finals and Morey declares, "Time to Rebuild!"
Sad to see Jsmoove go.... I hope Chris Paul doesnt ruin his career man But nonetheless IN MOREY I TRUST!
Losing Josh doesnt not mean the end of the world dude. We still have good pieces in the team. Just add a few more and we will be fine. This situation is similar to losing Parsons a year ago doesnt it.
I really don't understand Josh's position... http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/13269892/josh-smith-play-los-angeles-clippers I mean, he had a defined role on this team. And as for the winning? We were only 2nd to the Warriors in the overall WC standings, and we even beat the team he is now going to. Just doesn't make sense.
That's gonna be scary for the Clippers knowing that Josh is playing for a contract during a playoff run. Can they handle him taking 15 shots a game in a more "refined" role? What about DJ's post touches too? Sounds like a bunch of hot air.
So melodramatic. Dekker and Babbit are apples and oranges. Are you comparing the two because they're white? How original. We got smoked 4-1 in the WCFs. I'd say that's good reason not to keep the entire squad together. The Clippers lost the series just as much as we won it. There were good pieces to keep and we kept them and did so cheap. Good teams like the Spurs don't double down on role players when they have young developing talent. They find talent from within. That's what we've done.
Sign & trade? http://espn.go.com/nba/ "The Houston Rockets have sent Josh Smith to the Los Angeles Clippers in a sign-and-trade, sources told ESPN.com." Not mentioned in the article though: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13269892/josh-smith-play-los-angeles-clippers Probably just getting a trade exception out of it, if true.
Josh Smith saying "winning" as a reason to leave leads me to believe something the Rockets did rubbed him the wrong way.
Morey made clear to Josh the team's priorities were Sergio Llull and KJ McDaniels. They got offered the Rockets' full MLE. Josh did not. So he left. Didn't matter what the Clippers would pay him. He left on principle. Morey and the Rockets did not value him as much as Llull, McDaniels and Brewer. Seeing he wasn't a Rockets' priority and Morey refused his request for playing time, he left out of principle. Morey is absolutely brain dead.
Looking at the Clippers roster vs Houston's they def have a better shot than we do on paper even before the Smoove addition. Can't fault him at all for his choice. Still feel like he would have stayed if Morey made him a priority.
Dude, how about keeping the squad that got you to the West Finals together and just adding a freaking POINT GUARD! Not going to beat Steph Curry and the Warriors with an out of position 38 year old Jason Terry and Pablo Prigioni playing the position. That has to be the worst PG tandem in the league!
Defined role? Your role is to take less shots than, Cp3, Griffin, Dj the new shaq and Stephenson. Good luck with that.
How would that work - would that mean we used our MLE? Or the better question is, if we did a sign and trade, where are we financially now ?
