Next year, just like every year, Morey will have the flexibility to go after Durant. To say, we have to move Ariza or Brewer, is not true.
I wouldn't say we have $23M available if we assume we hold the QO's for our two young PFs and include whatever KJ will get this summer. We may be in the $15-16M range.
Lawson seems immature and should call uber more often. Not a good fit personality wise but he does seem hungry to win.
Are you kidding me? They were asking for 2 assets. I said thru would've taken 1 asset. What you ask for and what you're willing to accept are 2 different things crash. Have you ever done any negotiations? Child please. They would've settled for oft 2016 first plus non-guaranteeds, Dorsey and Johnson. But we weren't interested in 2/25. Crash and burn.
If this has ANY truth to it, as much I have supported Morey, I would think both him and you are both insane. Even with all of the problems with Lawson, he is DEFINITELY worth the risk of Dekker, Dorsey and Johnson. His 2/25 is a bargain for what he can do on the court for us! And he would not stop us from going after Durant.
We need this guy, for those who thought N.O pick + jones was going to get a star it got nothing. Morey gets a lot of hype on trades because of harden but truth is they went to 2 teams and they said no warriors-klay and beal-wizards then morey came offering 2 1st (when we were a lotto team), Martin, lamb, etc. he lucked up. If a good player goes on block rockets won't have enough. So this is the chance for him to make magic happen again. Lawson could be that player that could turn us into having the best backcourt in the NBA and at a buy low situation. Give them what they want now morey, this could be Howard's last yr, we aren't wing west with what without a MAJOR upgrade. This is your shot, take the risk.
+ 1 Losing Smith really really hurts. Second best playmaker on a team desperate for playmakers. Lawson is Smith 2.0, great talent available at a cheap price and at the position of greatest need. KJ McDaniels is not going to put you at the Warriors level. But Lawson might. And in fact there likely isn't an available player in the league right now with his talent. Who's left for the MLE that can move the needle? No one. Make the trade Morey.
The Rockets aren't going to trade for Lawson if they think he will be waived and especially not until they learn of the legal ramifications of this latest DUI. I do agree that Morey got lucky with Harden since other teams had deals for him but turned down OKC and the Rockets don't have those kind of assets available right now. For all the flexibility the Rockets are supposed to have in trades, I don't really see it. It's more of the same from the last trade deadline, no one is banging down our door for the assets we have to trade. However, Morey has been good at finding key contributors when you least expect it, even if those players aren't considered stars when acquired.
Make the trade Morey. We can't have another season with only one playmaker. Help out Harden or he's gonna leave us in a few years. Our PG depth chart is such a joke right now.
Ok, your priorities just differ from mine. I wouldn't let DMo walk to keep Ariza when you have Durant.
Sign and trade KJ McDaniels 3 yrs/10 million + the non guaranteed contracts of Papanikolau and Prigioni plus a first round pick for Ty Lawson.
Trade Howard to philly for a second. Trade Harden to Dallas for a second. Sign Durant and Lebron. Boom.
