Boston sent back a $10 million salary in Gerald Wallace. And Lee has positive or neutral value. He can likely be flipped at the deadline to a contender for an asset back to Boston. Lee isn't a drunk and doesn't have attitude issues. Next?
Next? whatever dude. get over yourself. Wallace is garbage that GSW took on. Boston would have gladly taken Lee into cap space if Wallace wasn't part of the equation. Aren't you surprised that GSW didn't have to give up an asset (e.g. Looney) to move Lee?
Playing behind Durant, Ariza would be looking at maybe 10 minutes a game of playing time and he'd almost certainly request a trade anyway.
Can someone program in a way to replace the word "Lawson" with "low hanging fruit" automatically throughout the site? Or.... nah?
Tyson Chandler to Mavs the first time Perry Jones to Celtics today Zaza to Mavs Javale to Sixer last year
I never understand why millionaires get DWI's and DUI's. For goodness sake Uber, pay for a ride or have someone to drive your car. What an idiot. I feel no remorse but I would welcome him to the Rockets because he makes my team better on the basketball court.
Tyson Chandler was traded for Matt Carroll, Najera, and Dampier's carcass. Carroll became a starter for Charlotte, Najera was a viable rotation big, and Damp's non-guaranteed contact was cut, getting Charlotte under the luxury tax. Perry Jones is on a rookie deal being paid around $2 million. OKC salvaged a second rounder for him. Dallas gave Milwaukee a second rounder in desperation to get a big. Zaza makes $5.2 million. Denver PAID Philly a first round pick to take Javale. Child, please. Are you kidding me?
No. Boston would not have gladly taken on Lee without sending out Wallace unless another asset had come with Lee. Boston traded the asset for moving out Wallace.
Mavs had to take on Felton and gave up 4 players and 2 picks. Perry Jones had to be sent with a 2nd round pick (and we are talking about $2M, not 13M) Yep. Half as much money and a desperate situation for Dallas. The Nuggets sent the 76ers a 1st round pick.
Holic, Lawson was on your signature as a target at one time because he had a value contract that could be moved. If the price is right, then Morey would still trade for a player like Lawson. All it takes is getting on a new team with a new culture to revitalize someone's value. The difference between Smith and Lawson is that Lawson can still start. I think people view Smoove as more of a bench player who will only work in certain systems. Lawson needs help and I pray he gets it so he doesn't waste his God given talent most of us on this board would love to have. I don't understand why every trade or buyout speculation has to be a fight. The whole point of this board is for us to share in our passion for basketball, not use it to rip on each other.
Lol guys just remember that bbalholic is perennially wrong with almost all of his statements. You can't go around acting as if your opinion is fact and that anybody who has a different one is incorrect. Are you stating that you are an insider? Yes or no? Do not make statements like "Rockets are not going to trade for Lawson" if you aren't an insider. Its just your opinion, not a fact.
Will they trade for an injury proned player owed $12,700,000, $13,400,000, $14,100,000, and $14,800,000 who has averaged 50.5 games played per year since he was drafted? On top of the fact that he is a career 31.4% three-point shooter who averaged less assists per game last year than Lawson? In your opinion which contract would be more difficult to get rid of? The 1 year $13,213,482 contract Lawson has or the 3 years $42,300,000 contract for the player described above (who by the way, would require a LOT more assets to acquire than Lawson).
If there was ever a time to pounce on Lawson it's now. I'm sure his value is at an all time low right now.
Meh... I'd say nothing much will change between now and October. I think someone will trade for him, but the time to do it wouldn't be right when he's still in a jail cell waiting to make bail. I'm sure Denver now wants to get rid of him especially now, but they aren't dumb enough to trade him at the worst possible time. Wait for him to get out, release some PR about him changing his life etc. Come October the same offers will still be there and will probably improve to where they are now.
He's facing a year in jail. Granted, it's very unlikely he gets that, but it's a big gamble. Even for a team that waits for him to get cut and signs him outright.
