The coach's jaws drop in the press conference when Lin brings up "God". LOL Good luck with that coach. It is what is what it is.
I could honestly write a book (a short one, but I'm serious) about the psychology of Jeremy Lin fanatics. Not all of them are this way, but a large, large group of them. Keep in mind, everything that they say badmouthing the Lakers? They were in LOVE with the Lakers when the Rockets dumped him there. LOVE. They loved Kobe. They loved the coaches. They loved Los Angeles. They loved their fans. They loved how they were supposedly embracing Lin, calling it acceptance that was lacking in Houston. Why? Because they weren't the Rockets, who supposedly were the source of all of Jeremy Lin's troubles. They blamed Kevin McHale (and Kelvin Sampson for a week or two), James Harden, Patrick Beverley, Daryl Morey and even a photoshop of Carmelo Anthony for Jeremy's woes. During the LA honeymoon period, here was a reply I sent to LA Times blogger Eric Pincus, warning him of what was to come.

@EricPincus The moment we sent you Jeremy Lin ... well, good luck, Lakers fans. You're going to need it. pic.twitter.com/PSSi8O4qi9
— ClutchFans (@clutchfans) October 24, 2014
So you can understand why I (and others) laugh when they're doing the same thing to the Lakers/Los Angeles because of the nightmare season that Lin had. Byron Scott was the problem. Kobe was the problem. Ronnie Price or Jordan Clarkson were the problem. Anyone who disputes those things is biased (or worse, racist) against Jeremy. They take criticism of Lin very, very personally. They also can take criticism of their behavior to be an attack on Lin -- he's often their human shield. We know because we dealt with this stuff for two years. LOF (Lin-Only Fan) is a ClutchFans-born term that was a derivative of "YOF" (Yao-Only Fan) almost 15 years ago. We were inundated with Yao Ming fans then. When he struggled early, it was a big-time problem for our forum with these fans, but eventually Yao was awesome and the interests of the two parties aligned. With Jeremy Lin, that never happened. The good news for you is that Lin cost Charlotte practically nothing and there are no expectations on him whatsoever (that's important). He could surprise under those conditions. North and south, he's a very fast player who can do well attacking the basket and in transition. He will have games where he looks pretty good, then he'll have games where he's awful. He needs to improve his shot and defense while cleaning up his turnovers. The bad news will come if expectations rise. You will often get LOFs pointing fingers at the coach and the player ahead of Jeremy in the lineup. You're just going to have to laugh and suck it up because it will happen. But know these fans aren't Hornet fans -- they're Jeremy Lin fans. The Hornets are just the latest vehicle to get their guy where they want him to go.
This much dedicated scrutiny for a back up NBA guard. He mentioned 'God' in an interview along with 70% of American professional athletes.
In other words Clifford is saying Lin is weak and pathetic so they signed Harrison as an insurance policy.
Not the way Lin talks about it. It clearly made his new coach uncomfortable. It's a press conference not a sermon..
I hope that Clutch writes a book about the psychology of Lin fanatics. Maybe we should start a Kickstarter. I recall the posters claiming that Clutch should be grateful to Lin fans for keeping this site alive with hits.
ahahaha I knew hornets fan would come here for advice on how to deal with LOF. And this is only the beginning.
I almost die from laughing when I saw this. Priceless. http://hornetsplanet.com/topic/4641...ase-shouldnt-doshould-know-about-linlin-fans/
But clearly, that guy trolling in the Hornets forum is clearly a LOH. I won't be surprised that he actually is Zboy. It's stupid but very funny though.
Clutch nailed it exactly. The key is that unlike Yao, Lin never lived up to the expectations of his fans. Yao fans was very defensive too, blaming Francis for not passing him the ball, and the coaching staff for not solving the fronting problem against Yao. But Francis did have flaws and some of the gripe was legit, although Francis and Yao were actually quite fond of each other. And most importantly, Yao was a legit star. Whoever overly critical of him would look bad. If Lin could sustain his Linsanity level for his career, the Lin war might not be as bad as it is. At worst Lin fans would be as annoying as Kobe fans or Curry fans. But they would not be ridiculed as they are now. The painful thing is that the more they were clobbered, the worse they become because it kind of confirms their suspicion that the world is out to get Lin and his fans. This is why the Lin fans haters are making things worse by piling on. But hey they enjoy it, even become obsessed with it. So the two sides just feed on each other.
1) You guys need to stop trolling other forums and if you are, then need to stop posting stuff from there. There is nothing that can be posted from there that we have not already seen posted in the previous years here. It is the same song but different arena. 2) As Tinman and I have said earlier.... him and I are Rockets fans. This is a Rockets site. This is our home. We don't need to register on a new forum every year. That's reserved for Lin worshipers. Homeless and unwanted like Danang and the gang.
After a couple years of LoF's toxicity driving people insane, I don't blame people for relishing in delight to troll his fans. It's like poking the troll locked under the bridge when you know you are now on the other side of the bars. I don't have the time or spare life to waste myself, but I will admit in taking a sadistic pleasure in watching Lin's fans suffer or rage now that Lin is no longer a Rocket.
Clutch was on the verge of doing this. LakersGround apparently just censored everyone. HornetsPlanet started a new section lmfao.
The problem is that Rockets, Lakers and Knicks have already plenty of fans of their own. The Hornets don't have so many. They can be swallowed whole by the Lin crazies.
Goodness Its especially bad when someone speaks out as the "voice of reason" representing the group...BUT they just reveal themselves to be the same bad example that theyre talking against, and validates everyone's conclusions even more Just a straight LOF FAIL attempt
Bwahahahaha, I have a feeling Clutch sent Ziggy an advance copy over email. If there is a NBA forum owners meetup, the drinks that could be poured over this topic...
Yao the person also handled media and expectations different than Lin Yao had some culture barrier a bit to his advantage. And with his giant size, no one was gonna be like him. Though hes a big target, and for all the huge expectations on Yao, there was just enough space where he could have more focus on improving his game Lin on the other hand uses religion a lot. Religion is fanaticism in itself, and it just inspires even more fanaticism and zealotry in people, to "worship" level even. Also Lin is Americanized and very articulate, so he's viewed as more publicly accessible. With social media exploding even more since Yao first started, Lin's every move now can get critiqued. For instance, even when Lin does well in "eye test", there can be tweets, youtubes, vines and advanced stats to critique his performance to be mediocre. Yao had that too, but not AS much as now
