I did not see a thread so I made one. I started playing since Blizzard's original first title Orcs and Humans. I have played sparingly through 2-3 and WOW. Personally I am very curious how the movie appeals to the greater audience. I am also interested in the mythology and know that video or PC game movies are the hardest to make. It is basically a CG movie. They kept it a well hidden secret throughout the years and only in the last two years some footage was leaked at Comic Con 2014 and 2015. Official release date: July 2016 Anyone who is interested feel free to update and post movie trailers which will be disclosed to the public around November this year. http://io9.com/weve-just-seen-the-first-amazing-footage-from-the-warcr-1717265780 Spoiler
Whoa, Evan Gattis must have been slumping at the beginning of the season because he was focused on portraying that orc.
It's supposed to be full CGI right? I would prefer a StarCraft movie or even a Diablo movie though I know those lore better.
Warcraft brand has never been stronger with Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone. Not only that, ex-WOW players will watch this movie for nostalgia.
Wow subscriber base is lower now than it was in 2008. Hots and Hearthstone are doing well but it's kind of silly to say they do much to increase interest in the movie. If they wanted to grab peak dollars, the time for that was 2010-2012.
As a HS player that doesn't enjoy WOW, I have to say I disagree with this. I'm interested in Warcraft now where I wasn't at any time in the past. We'll have to see how it plays out but I still stick to my stance that it's going to be bigger with new games in the series.
This happens everytime near the end of an expansion. Everytime a new expansion comes out, they break records. All the people who 'quit' come back.
I don't think I have had as high of expectations for a movie, as I do this one. WC3 was my favorite game, and it isn't even close. Absolutely addicted to the lore. This may be the first movie I actually see in the theater in a long time. Yes, I know I may need to be "Prepared to be disappointed". I am very well aware of the risks of my expectations here. I have seen other similar movies absolutely flop.
I for one am glad that it comes to fruition eventually. This project was stuck in development since 2005. It is like an endless cycle of 1st round exits.
After Warcraft, I can only hope some kind soul will look into making a Warhammer 40K film as well. Ahhh I can dream
