Feel the same way, though he's not much at all like K Mart. Both are atrocious defenders, but K mart also had a knack for getting to the line. Thornton is basically a distance chucker and if he can't hit the 3 he's a negative on the court. For a vet min he's a good sign, but I don't see how this changed our calculus against GS or SA or LAC. Morey's gotta have something else cooking
I don't think so. Terry is still our backup point. But if we trade or sign a PG; even a combo guy like Bradley, I think Terry is probably gone. Then again, if he wants to come back for the minimum, I'm sure there's a roster spot for him. Don't see him playing much though if we add another quality combo guard.
I think Terry is only brought back at the minimum and only if a deal on a trade doesn't pan out. I'd rather Prig be the backup. I trust his ball handling and passing more than Bev or Terry. I think a deal is coming things are way too quiet.
I'm happy with this signing. At first I was like meh... but MT can create shots for himself. He's the 2nd best at it on our squad as is. LOL. We need a PG in the worst way.
No kidding. MT is ONE potentially reliable bomber. We need more than one and Terry can still shoot. If we limit him to the 15-16 minutes originally planned for him we still may get reliable 3 point shooting from him. However with all the d** injuries we had to run Terry 25 minutes or more. 37-38 and running that many minutes will take a toll on his legs. That is needed for his shooting. So.. Don't count Terry out yet.
Like the signing. If you can bring in an upgrade via trade at PG by trading Jones and then resign Smith you've got a crazy good bench. Beverly Thornton Brewer Smith Capela Love the depth but something tells me we are done at PG until maybe the trade deadline.
I'm gonna be honest... I have not really seen Marcus Thornton play. Is he like a Jamal Crawford type player?
Great singing for that price. Roster space is dwindling fast but you can always cut this contract loose if he's not killing it from 3 for us. Finally, a legitimate volume marksman instead of a low % player (like Brewer) hoisting up the shots for the sake of the offense. No. He's not going to handle the ball like Crawford. He's way less likely to bury a team fast when he's hot like Crawford can. He's not one of those JR Smith, Crawford, Green type guys that can drop 17 in a quarter but he's also not going to hurt you as badly when he's cold.
You didn't see him rain 3s against us while he was with Sacramento? I'd say a shorter Crawford, without the dance move handles, is accurate.
hes nothing like crawford other than that they both shoot the ball. he will be useful for those wide open threes that will be created
The guy can flat out score. When the shot clock is running down and Harden passes to the weakside, Thornton can get us a high percentage shot. Hes the only guy that can get his own shot in the half court

Unlike Martin, Thornton is not the first option. Martin would be a huge plus in terms of his scoring within the current system. I will close with the overused cliche--low risk, high reward signing.
This is a very low-risk move with the vet-min, I don't see why people are complaining. Thornton is not quite a standstill shooter -- he can create his shot off the dribble. But he's not Jamal Crawford, either. He can shoot off the catch or the dribble. He's not a pure knock-down shooter, but he's a strong high-30's shooter from deep who is streaky in a good way (i.e. the type of guy you can put in for limited PT per game, and if he's hitting, you keep him in there). And we can use a guy like that of our bench. Is he a plus defender or passer? No. But in the PT we'll give him, he'll most likely be a net-positive overall.
More like Randy Foye. Can create his own shot off the dribble, which is his best attribute, especially for this team IMO.
Marcus Thorntons defence will make the harden 13 minute video look like DPOY worthy. happy he's still in the league because he seems like a good guy but expectations will be low
