Great... promote him to AAA.... and then call him up to the big leagues before he plays a AAA game (like Lance MCJR.)
Justin Ferrell, a 36th-round pick in 2014, had a no-hitter going for Quad Cities, but lost it to begin the 8th inning. The River Bandits lead Burlington 3-0.
Dean Deetz @ State College: 5 IP, 2 H, BB, 4 K If you recall, Deetz was the Astros' 11th-round pick last year. He's got a big fastball and a promising curveball, but he is still trying to rein in his control. Once he does that, he could take a huge step forward. Pat Porter, this year's 15th-round pick, went 3-4 and drove in all 3 runs in a 3-0 win for Tri-City.
Astros landed 7 guys on John Sickels' midseason top 75 list: 29) Phillips (Preseason: 141) Spoiler Always had tools, skills have blossomed. Could get into Top 20 by end of year. 55) Appel (33) Spoiler Still flashes brilliance, still erratic. 56) Reed (160) Spoiler Destroyed the Cal League. But it was the Cal League. Just promoted to Double-A, if he hits there placement will continue to rise. My guess is that he keeps hitting and pushes into the 20s by the end of the year. 59) Feliz (70) Spoiler Great stuff, pitching well in Double-A, deserves more notice. 67) Hader (85) Spoiler Just gets people out. 71) Nottingham (NR) Spoiler Crushing A-ball pitching at age 20, stock moving up but I want more information before going higher than this. If final reports back up the numbers, will rank much higher in three months. 74) Fisher (129) Spoiler Power, speed, across-the-board tools, would like to see him outside A-ball given college background. Correa would have been #1 if all the top guys were still eligible. Those notes on Phillips Nottingham and Reed make me happy
Most people don't seem to be including the recent draftees, so it's hard to get a gauge on their rankings. My guess at our mid season top 20 Spoiler 1.Brett Phillips 2.Alex Bregman 3.Mark Appel 4.AJ Reed 5.Michael Feliz 6.Daz Cameron 7.Kyle Tucker 8.DJ Fisher 9.Jacob Nottingham 10.Francis Martes 11.Joseph Musgrove 12.Josh Hader 13.Tony Kemp 14.Colin Moran 15.Jason Martin 16.Thomas Eshelman 17.Daniel Mengden 18.Riley Ferrell 19.Tyler White 20 Akeem Bostick
Elieser Hernandez has been promoted to Quad Cities after 5 appearances (2 starts) with Tri-City. In 20.1 innings, Hernandez allowed 13 hits, 5 runs (3 earned), walked 2, and struck out 30. He has a 0.72 WHIP and opponents are hitting .173 against him. After a fine U.S. debut in 2014, the 20-year-old Venezuelan will tackle a full-season league for the first time, midway through the 2015 season. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=br&url=%2Fminors%2Fplayer.cgi%3Fid%3Dhernan002eli&div=div_standard_pitching"></script>

I guess it is because of some weird connection in my head with Jeff Kent, but it was not until watching that video just now that I realized Tony Kemp was black.
Thanks for putting this together. I would likely weight level a little more, but first 15 guys would be the same with little movement. Mengden is a guy I want to see pitch. Would not surprise me to see him jump into the top 8 prospects or so if he can stay healthy.
It's really incredible that after calling up Correa, McCullers, Tucker, Santana and seeing all of them have varying levels of mlb success..on top of Springer last year and losing DDJ.....that we still have so much quality depth in the system
The wife and daughter went to see corpus play tonight, I tried to get some reports and all I got was, oh Brett Phillips is so cute, the field is so pretty. At least they listened enough to know who Phillips was.
