not exactly true. 1) priorities - say we want him, but not more than LMA. we couldn't trade for him AND then also have the ability to go after LMA. the rockets went after their top priorities first and struck out. second priorities were retaining their own free agents... that's still happening (josh, kj). 2) timing - i dont think a trade would be possible until josh is resigned. that's when jones becomes available for trade, and not a moment sooner. as someone mentioned, we may also have to wait 30 days after rookies are signed in order to include one of them. 3) fit - i don't believe denver would be interested in jones since they would have to pay him next summer. rebuilding teams are not interested in signing role players to long term deals. there is also a chance he decided to leave them next summer. its a bad fit for a rebuilding team. because of this, i think jones gets traded for a future pick to a different team. 4) price - there is a chance that denver's asking price is higher than morey is willing to pay. waiting until later in the summer, or even closer to the deadline, might cause the nuggets to lower the price. it also might help then find another team willing to give what they are asking... in which case we don't get lawson. TLDR: first we have to resign josh to make jones expendable. trade jones for a pick to give to DEN so they dont risk jones leaving next summer. wait 30 days to be able to trade a rookie, and then hope the asking price for lawson has lowered by then. trade could look like: POR gets: jones DEN gets: por's lotto protected first rounder, NG contracts of papa/prigs, harrell, knicks second rounder HOU gets: lawson dwight-capela-dorsey dmo-josh-wood ariza-brew-dekker harden-terry-KJ lawson-beverley-johnson
I agree, something is holding up us completing our roster, but there are alot of possibilities. When the domino does fall, I bet it's going to seem very obvious.
You absolutely don't know this. Period. The reason Denver has not traded him yet could very well be that, although they have fielded many offers for him, they found none acceptable. Maybe they're asking price is much higher than you think and thats why he is not here.
Would you trade Lawson for TJones? Yeah, I doubt Denver would either. We don't have the assets to acquire him, sorry to say.
Lawson is the missing piece...what is Morey waiting for?! PG:Ty Lawson/Patrick Beverley/Nick Johnson SG:James Harden/Corey Brewer/Jason Terry SF:Trevor Ariza/KJ McDaniels/Sam Dekker PFonatas Motiejunas/Josh Smith/Montrezl Harrell Cwight howard/Clint Capela/Christian Wood That's a championship squad!!
PG:Ty Lawson/Patrick Beverley/Nick Johnson SG:James Harden/KJ McDaniels/Jason Terry SF:Trevor Ariza/Corey Brewer/Sam Dekker PFonatas Motiejunas/Josh Smith/Montrezl Harrell Cwight Howard/Clint Capela/Christian Wood Rockets just need throw in a 1st round pick to sweeten the deal. Spoiler
There is no way Denver does that deal lol. Crap for good PG. You have to throw in the new draft picks as well or Denver says no way
I know everyone wants to plug the PG hole ASAP but Lawson is not the answer. This team does not need another spot with a defensive hole, especially one that comes with a lot of baggage. The guy markets himself as a cancer. If Lawson is not getting his shots and he might not because of Harden and Dwight, he is going to create problems. Pass on him and be patient. Better options will come around.
I think it could work if we brought him off the bench. It would take some convincing to get Ty to buy in though.
Morey waiting for kevin Johnson, Decker, or other summer league players except capela to play very well so he can dump those players for starting PG.
Kam, paging Kam. Okay, let's say we do get Lawson. Maybe it will be in a three way with Sacramento because Sacramento is Sacramento.
Actually I do know this. But you don't. And you won't until Lawson is moved. And then we'll revisit it, Cccccccrash
