His agent isn't the one who gave the verbal agreement to the Mavs, it was De Andre Jordan. Jordan isn't a kid, even if the agent wants him to sign with the Mavs he can't be forced to give his verbal agreement if he doesn't want to do it, same thing with Dwight Fegan wanted him to go to Mavs but Dwight went to Houston instead, why are you acting like Jordan was forced to go to the Mavs against his will? . Why would he give his verbal agreement to the Mavs if playing there was counter to his desires as you claim? I know Jordan isn't exactly the smartest ball player around, but if he didn't want to leave LA I think he would've told Cuban the first time they talked face to face or texted each other. Or when he read all the news articles about him giving his verbal agreement to the Mavs. Or when his family or friends asked if he was really going to the Mavs.

Jordan wanted to leave the Clips, the thing is the Clips changed his mind, so that was when he reneged on his verbal agreement. But prior to that and if Cp3 and Griffin and Pierce didn't go to his house and hashed it all out then he would've been a Mav. And as he told Cuban he was excited to go to the Mavericks and were they were even discussing which other players they can get with the cap space they have remaining.

I agree with this. I don't disagree that Fegan is a little slimy, but agents tend to have to be in their line of work. DJ is a grown man. He probably told Fegan how mad he was with CP and how he wanted to be a star instead of a dumped on third wheel (which he clearly was). He probably saw himself as undervalued and disrespected. Many people in that situation just want out. Probably at the time of the initial decision to go to Dallas, those were his priorities. They changed afterwards, which happened. A few thoughts:

    1. It's not absolutely clear that Fegan was working AGAINST DJ's best interests, at least initially. Yes Clippers are the better team, but: a) CP has been apparently treating him like leftovers when he was all-defensive level; b) Doc Rivers couldn't even pretend to draw up plays for him at the Clippers pitch meeting; c) CA has a 13% state tax (versus 0% for TX), so economically, the DA offer was for MORE money ($5-10MM more, if I remember correctly) for the same 4 year period; d) although DAL was worse, DJ was primed to be THE STAR in DAL - many people when they're relatively young prefer that to winning on a team where the star people freezes you out (add that to the fact that the Clips haven't even gotten past the second round, and maybe that "better" team isn't worth the trouble after all); e) maybe he believed in himself and wanted more for himself. Fegan probably saw DAL has a good opportunity for two birds with one stone. It was also made clear he told DJ TWICE about the conflict of interest. In the long run, you could very well argue that DJ's career might be BETTER as the LEAD DOG in DAL. Although that team is worse with him than the Clips with him, DAL would have room for 1 more max in 2016. With him at center, assuming a healthy Parsons, Wesley, Dirk and now Deron, that team is low tier contender. Cuban is one of the most loved owners in the NBA by players and all his facilities are first class. And DAL is HOME. So there are LOTS of reasons why DJ could have chosen DAL over CLIPS.

    2. DJ is a grown ass man. Your agent can't FORCE you to sign a team you don't want. (see: Dwight Howard). If you disagree with him, you decline his advice, tell him to shut up, override his advice, or fire him. You don't be a pansy-ass and blame him for tricking you to sign with a different team. Fegan can be persuasive, but he's not a witch doctor, for pete's sake. Your agents/lawyers may try to talk you into things they THINK are the best for you but may not be, but only you can decide for yourself.

    3. I don't mind that DJ changed his mind, although it looks VERY bad when you verbally made a commitment and the team spends tens of millions of dollars relying on your commitment (plus missing on available players). First, don't commit if you're not unsure. Second, if you do commit and find out you're wrong and change you mind, man up and apologize at the lease and recognize the damage you did. I'm not in favor of forcing someone to stick with a wrong decision. If you made a wrong decision but realize it's wrong before it's too late change it. It's like a marriage. Just because you get engaged (commit verbally) doesn't mean you should go through with it just because you gave your word, if you realize it's wrong. But its completely lame to slip out the church door without talking to anyone and having the courtesy of apologizing when the bride is asking "hey, what's wrong at least talk to me".

I also don't buy this BS about the agent is the one who delivers the bad message. When it's a race between two teams to sign you, yeah your agent can deliver the news. But if you've already verbally committed to a team and they make a bunch of moves based on your word and want a straight answer from you, at least pick up the damn phone and say - "I'm sorry, I made the wrong decision but I have to do the right thing for me." Cuban deserved a call.

    4. It was established that another agent for Relativity was there to sign the contract. Fegan probably spent Wednesday trying his best to talk DJ into at least giving Cuban a call. He was already embarrassed by DJ. DJ also probably wasn't willing to listen to Fegan (probably at the request of the Clippers who were afraid that DJ might flip flop if subject to Fegan's persuasion). So Relativity probably at DJ's request arranged for another agent to be present (because the contract couldn't be signed without one) because Relativity wants the contract money. Fegan won't drop DJ, but DJ might either drop Fegan or stick with Relativity but request another agent who's more malleable.

I hate the fact that this clown can be so classless, yet, everyone is still on his jock for being such a classy owner. Hes probably the only person that is allowed to talk trash and demean an entire city and get away with it.

"I dont think the system is wrong in any way. **** happens. It happens in the real world all the time." He should heed his own logic and shut the **** up about "fouls" during playoffs then.

    **** this guy man.

As much as I dislike Dallas, DeAndre was a beeotch for dodging Cuban.

LeBron did similarly during "The Decision"

Parsons chilled out a bit today. Luckily for Dallas parsons can put the team on his back (with the help of Zaza and Felton) and bring them to the promised land.

Parsons will probably be the first option next year. Won't be surprised if he puts up some solid numbers.

Of course he does. That's why he is promoting that pointless app that no one will use.

I still wish Broussard would have said something about it before being ethered.

    FIFY.Youre welcome.

Man, I bet multiple sauces had to stop from higher-ups at bspn. Wouldve got ethered either way, but wouldve been entertaining.

Off tangent, but isn't Donnie Nelson the GM of Dallas? I know calling Cuban a hands-on owner is an understatement, but it's strange to not hear a peep from the guy.

A few days past and I still think Jordan pulled a d*** move for not notifying Cuban, but he was well within his rights to do so. As others have said, things like this happen during the hiring process all the time, and nothing is fixed until the signature is on the dotted line.

Parsons' raving about the honor of a man's word sounds righteous, but it's a rather pointless rant of the rejected.

I tend to agree more with Cuban's recent assessment: sh** happens.

Cuban's shutting up anf moving on cause he doesn't want Jordan/Doc call him out for conspiring with Fegan which is in conflict with Fegan's client's interests..
