I see why you are calling him a defender only. If it worth anything he is going to win Utah summer league MVP by a land slide. He was injured a good portion of his rookie campaign. His shooting mechanics leave something to be desired, but I believe it will improve. He also can really get to the FT line and make the right passes. Plus his defense is ELITE.
yeah i stated in a previous post there's plenty potential there to be a solid player but how many times has that been said with players in the league. And star at this point is far from true. I don't take much from summer leagues. more than half of those players aren't good enough to be in the NBA, so the one who are highly rated should do well.
Agreed, when they say Danny is shopping smart, it's smart + vet + choice of all those picks he has for a STAR. He's trying to sell super high, he has IT & Bradley locked up. He not just going to get rid of smart because, he's was FAR from a bust, play major mins at PG got them into playoffs, Celtic fans love him. He loves Hayward & Parsons...
Anyone who discounts a player after his rookie season shouldn't be taken too seriously. Anyone who discounts a player after his rookie season when he was injured most of that season RRRRRRRRRRREALLY shouldn't be taken too seriously. Look at what all was said about D-Mo. Look at him now. A wise NBA HOFer said once "It takes about 3 years to determine if a player has it or doesn't have it." It usually happens the 2nd or 3rd year. For D-Mo it was Year 3 when the light came on. Look at Capela. Seemed liked eeeeeeevvveryone on the GARM was saying this guy was 3 years away from being 3 years away, so raw, bust etc. Not me, I kept stressing WARP WARP WARP. Play him. Now he looks like positioned to wreak havoc on the NBA with his crazy drawbridge-armed slamdunks and mutumbo-esque blocks & boards. WARP is the truth. Not the say all end all, but it's very significant. I guarantee just like Capela, Smart is going to be so much UNGH next season. I wanted us to trade up to get him when he was drafted. Big fan. Pipedream, I know, but IMO it sure would be nice to have him in the PG rotation.
so then anyone who says a player is headed for stardom after all of what you just said about his rookie season shouldn't be taken seriously
unless it's only papanikalou going out, i don't want to give up any meaningful assets to get him. he's an overrated defender and not quite yet a good ballhandler.
Wow, thanks for sharing this. Something in the way he moves reminds me of-- dare I say it?-- Walt Frazier. Wow.
dude is nice and said he was only 75% last season because of ankle... his shot was only nab flaw, he's now looking for his shot from 3 now, his handles and vision are above average for a rookie... will grant be better in NY ?
It's far more likely that Boston trades Avery Bradley-- he's at a stage where we pretty much know what he is and what he can be. For Boston, if he is not a superstar and is not a potential superstar, he has to be considered a trade asset. Morey did that with Courtney Lee back in the day. HOU was a .500 team in search of a star and Boston was trying to give the KG/Pierce/Allen core one more shot at a title run. Now the situation is reversed.
well we can all agree he is Euro...that's because well...he's Euro (league-wise)...but "pretty" is an opion-based adjective...are you officially submitting this as your opinion of DMo?
I doubt they even trade him. I would give them 2 future first and two players. But who knows what they want?
