lol at marcus smart headed for stardom. he has a long way to go for that. all he is is a defensive guard right now. he doesn't even have an established position yet as he doesn't have the full capabilities of a pg and can't score for a sg. plenty of potential to be a solid player but star and smart together is definitely false at this point.

I would give them 2 first round picks and TJ. What Marcus could bring us on his contract would be great.

Yup, I'm not sure exactly what the Tech fan said, but it definitely warranted a smack.

I'm not going to argue back and forth on Marcus Smart's future. Suffice to say, we disagree. I see a multi-dimensional gutsy, gritty big point guard, that defends, and dishes, and shoots, and finishes, and makes plays. Marcus Smart is simply a winner. He plays winning basketball. I'm not interested in pigeon-holing players as a "point guard" or a "shooting guard". Really doesn't matter in today's NBA. What matters is what a players' skills are. Smart can defend either points or shooting guards and many small forwards for that matter. And he's also got great court vision and a good handle. He can run the pick and roll quite effectively. And his spot-up shooting is much improved. Label him however you want...he'd be a great fit along with Ariza bookending around Harden.

And we'll just have to see where his career goes from here. But I'm calling it for myself, he's going to be a star. Probably as soon as this upcoming season if he stays healthy. I can see the breakout coming.

Yes, all of those things. Because he is young and on a rookie deal and showing great potential he is going to require a lot more assets than Lawson will.

In case you missed it, the Nuggets WANT to trade Lawson. Lawson has been on the block for months. They can't get value for him. Nobody wants to give Denver anything of substance for Lawson. IF they trade Lawson he'll wind up going out for a pittance of what many people like you think he's worth. But the truth is he just ain't worth much in trade because of the plethora of talent at the point, and because he doesn't defend, and because he's owed a decent amount of $$ next season which means he's a drag on the salary cap in the summer free agent bonanza of all free agent summers.

Yes, Smart is worth waaaaaaaaaaay more in trade than Lawson. It's not even close.

    cddrive,

apparently malakas didn't see him play at OK State. And because he's a bulky 6'5" of muscle and grit he can't possibly play at the point.

But yes, I've seen him play aplenty, both at Ok State and in the Association. If he stays healthy he's gonna be another great backcourt talent that can play both backcourt positions as needed.

Oh............did I say.....he'd be a great fit next to Harden...you know our other 6'5" point guard??

so with all that said he's still just a defensive guard right now as I stated earlier. everything else is spotty at this point and remains to be seen. all these predictions are meaningless as we've seen plenty of these from you and we know how those go.

Just because Smart will be a great fit next to Harden ( one of the best fits imo) doesn't mean he is a good playmaker. I saw plenty of Celtics games this season and if he had such an elite vision and playmaking skills even as a rookie they would show. They didn't. I don't care what some "expert" said pre draft or how he played in college I care about what I see in the big mens league. And he didn't show one flash of stardom. And also one flash of being a good playmaking pointguard.
But ofc all the best to the kid let's hope he doesn't hang out much with Sully in Boston but works hard and gets better.

And also agree with bballholic in why Lawson will require less assets than Smart. But the difference isn't so big. They both will require plenty of assets. But contracts DO matter as does off court behaviour. Smart has 3 more years of cheap team control and that on it's own is worth plenty.

No, he's not just a defensive point guard. He's a very good, multi-dimensional offensive player as well.

    Peace, out.

36% screams very good, multi dimensional offensive player. it makes sense though bc you think the same for rubio, so we know your standards are set pretty low. but just fyi tho those are not good numbers, not even decent.

I'd take IT, Bradley or Smart.... I'd be fine pairing any of them with PBev....

asking price is prob too high.... Hopefully, DM is sticking to his guns in pursuit of another pg..... not willing to overpay..

    I'd be offering up:
TJ/KPap non guaranteed/Prigs partially guaranteed/KJohnson/Dorsey/rights to Llull, Gentile or whatever other euros.... and possible future pick(s)....

Just a question of who wants to bite....?
Celtics? I'd take any of the trio....
    Miami? Chalmers and Shabazz....
    Sac? Collison would work....

DM is just playing the waiting game.....

For Capela or DMo to be in the convo, its gonna take Lawson, Lowry or somebody at that level..... imo....

LOL. Morey doesn't want Lawson and his contract to begin with. Much less throwing Capela in the deal. Deal would already be done if Nuggets could get Capela for Lawson. LOL

Great trade, unless I saw outdated / wrong reports. I saw Lee for Gerald Wallace straight up, that's a great trade.

You mean assets that we would be willing to trade. D Mo would be plenty enough and I still wouldn't do it.

My impression was that Smart rumors were probably related to DeMarcus. They came out when the whole DeMarcus trade business started. I doubt that Boston would trade him for non-star yet.
