Point is, if we're trying to win a ring, where not their yet. We have teams that are clearly better in front of us like the Spurs and Warriors. Lets not forget that OKC will be back and that they used to kick our asses. Also, Clippers improved adding Stephenson and Pierce, Grizzles had some nice moves with Barnes and B.Wright, Suns picked up Chandler, Pelicans will improve. Rockets have retained their players so far, except for Terry and Smith, which if we lose them, we'd be taking a hit IMO. Terry is the perfect veteran 3rd stringer combo guard to have on the bench, and I'd rather have Smith then Jones as the backup PF for defensive purposes. Also, if we loose Smith, we loose our ability to trade Jones as well. So I wouldn't be so quick to say the Rockets haven't stepped back, unless major injuries occur, we WON'T be 2nd seed next year, maybe not even 3rd or 4th depending how the Clippers and OKC do.
Is adding Stephenson and Pierce supposed to be impressive? Is that why people keep saying the Clippers got better? Yikes.
This team is not essentially the same. We have not resigned Smith or Terry yet. Until we at least do that, you can't say we're the same team.
how does it not make them better? PP replaced matt barnes. that should be pretty clear to anyone whether that's a upgrade or not.
I do not think Terry is going to go back to the current Mavs right now. That could be good thing for the rockets.
So a backup PF and a hopefully 3rd string PG is what is holding us back? I don't think that's a clear upgrade, you do know what year it is right?
Look for the Rockets to pick up Ridnour now that hes been waived. They are good at bottom of the bsrrel shopping.
clearly an upgrade to get a versatile championship experienced player with a lot left in tank especially as a #3-4 option on a win now team. you're arguing for matt barnes really? that says alot about your bball iq.
Then look for the Rockets to trade or cut him because the cruel offseason joke on Luke Ridnour must live on.
Pierce isn't a scrub, he was a legitimate solid starter last year for the Wizards and he did very well in the off season. We'v seen what Stephenson can do in the right situation, I know he sucked on the Hornets last year but that may not be representative of what he will do this year. They also signed Wes Johnson who's a decent backup. All they need is some front court depth and enough chemistry to not make disastrous choke jobs in the finals.
then stop following them if all you're going to do is complain while disregarding many of the good things they've done thus far
shouldn't we have heard about all of the players having signed their contracts by now? I know that Beverly has tweeted that he is on his way to Houston to sign his deal but Brewer has not stated anything and we have not heard anything from Houston about signing it's free agents. what is going on? Is Cuban disrupting the whole league right now the chasing other teams free agents?
