The SA CBS affiliate's sports anchor last night, commented on how the Clipper contingent was staying with Jordan all night so Cuban couldn't get to him to change his mind. Then he made this comment. "I'm no Mavs fan, but this is bush league!".

Hate to say it, but I agree with him.

I'm not sure why people are thinking the Clippers are so much better than last year. Is a 37 year old Paul Pierce really better than Jamal Crawford? Is Deshawn Stephenson really all that much better than Matt Barnes?

That being said, watching Cuban and Parsons falling flat on their face is always great, but doing it in such an epic and spectacular fashion (even though I'll agree it is a bit embarrassing for the NBA) has truly made this the greatest 24 hours in free agency I've witnessed.

PP is by far better than matt barnes. that shouldn't even be questioned. do people think stephenson is the starter or something because that's false. clippers made the move for him to come off the bench not start.

    Pierce can still play.

DeShawn Stevenson? That'd be Lance Stephenson. :)

While I don't disagree with you, I'm not entirely convinced for a cpl reasons. I think a lot of teams, especially small market ones will view being able to make 11th hour pleas to leaving free agents outweighs the vast unlikeliness of one actually wanting to join them, and secondly that the teams act in only their own self interest (see lottery reform and how hacka is "oh it hasn't effected us"

We can't do anything about the Clips remaining a powerhouse. But we can certainly laugh at the Mavs tears.

It was very entertaining. However Jordan is a mental midget famewhoring idiot with peanuts for brain that required BABYSITTING at age 27 so he won't change his mind AGAIN.
I already didn't like the Clippers this just gives me more reason to root for them to fail hard.
I don't feel sorry so much for the Mavs but what happened was a travesty.
If it was any other team that this has happened to, I'm sure most here in CFs would be more angry with their reactions against the Clippers.

    How to put this?

I can certainly understand the contingent that labels DeAndre Jordan a mental midget Hell, he's an NBA player. Aren't most of them, technically, mental midgets? But I digress.

But let's not look past the full-court press that he received from one team while his current (almost former) team went through the motions. Blake Griffin and Chris Paul couldn't even be bothered to show up to suck up to him until they realized he was gone with the wind.

In the meantime, you have Chandler Parsons constantly visiting, calling, texting, fellating. Parsons who has the same agent, Dan Fegan, who is always trying to funnel his clients to Mark Cuban (I swear Cuban must pay his an extra percentage for this), including Dwight Howard. Remember pre-Rockets Dwight, who supposedly always had Dallas as a "preferred destination"?

And Marc Stein, always ready to help his buddy Cuban keep his brand alive.

I'll give Jordan credit for waking up and realizing that LA was the better option for him. Sure, 80 million bucks with no state tax. But....No point guard, except Chandler "Magic Johnson" Parsons of the microfracture knee surgery. A starting 2 coming back from an Achilles tear. A 47 year-old Dirk. And....nobody else.

Let Dan Fegan and Mark Cuban and Chandler Parsons grumble about it with Dirk while listening to David Hasselhoff records at the Blue Oyster Bar.

DJ should have called Cuban, however. I understand when you're a nice guy and hate confrontation and telling people bad news so they have a chance to tell you what they think of you, sure....not fun. But he should have done it.

What?? The Clippers were always going to offer him the max. That wasn't even a question. This was a question about Jordan feeling slighted and disrespected by Chris Paul, and he let his emotions get in the way of his decision. Either way, the renege was one thing. Not calling the Mavericks to tell him of his decision was about as low and scummy as it gets though.

This is pretty much my position. I am glad to see the Fegan-Cuban backdoor dealing fall flat. I am happier to see Fegan basically get called out by his client for not putting the client's best interests up front.

I can see Jordan not wanting anything to do with the trio of Cuba, Fegan, and Parsons at the moment, especially if he felt betrayed by his agent. He may not have wanted to tell the bad news, he may have also have just felt "f*** those guys", too.

For me, the story is about Fegan and how he and other agents handle business and manipulate teams and players.

I have long found Fegan's behavior worse than Jordan's non-call.

I personally would love to see other teams/players reneg on their contract promises in the fallout of this just to put heat on the commish to do something. I mean, I like Silver, but I sure would like to see him stick it to the Clippers who really shouldn't be rewarded for essentially sucker punching Dallas. They would be livid if someone did that to them and as mentioned earlier, if a team were to reneg on their contract commits, there would be hell to pay - so why are players allowed to?

yeah I think of it like being sweet talked and pressured by car salesmen (mavs) and a consultant you pay on a retainer (fegan) to buy a a ridiculously priced.. 90% agreeing with them, you verbally commit to buy it and will be back to sign papers the following week.. when your get home, you realized the car is not worth it and for the same amount of money you can get alot better car and you hate the fact the the consultant whom you are paying supposed to be looking out for your best interest conspired with the salesman.. at this point you just walk away not even wanting to talk to these people who were not upfront with you to begin with...
