    I'm sure it is because he wanted to keep Thatcher around for Brantley & Murphy who are left handed.

    Neshek should have been in to start the 8th. Matchup based pitching substitutions aren't nearly as effective in high leverage situations.

    He's a career .258/.305/.350 hitter against lefties. Now, that's not really anything special, but he's been OK against them.

    That's what I'm saying--I feel like it hasn't been effective at all with Thatcher but I can't back that up with analytics
