you pay about 3% over the course of the season in texas (road games), so still slightly more.

He only gets the Texas (and Florida) no Income tax when he plays in Texas (or Florida). So DJ will only get No Income Tax games for 41 home games plus all the other games he plays in Texas (or Florida).

If he played a game in New York, he would get taxed the New York State Income, and etc.

In the end, the Income Tax thing does not make too much of a difference in terms of actual money.

There are benefits to Texas, but I don't really think the cost of living thing really matters too much to NBA players. The biggest additional expense is in property. However, property is likely to increase significantly more in Southern California vs. Texas as it has historically. It not only is a better investment if you have the money to get in the market, but there are lower property taxes in CA than in TX. Most NBA players already have a home in LA, especially ones with max contracts. For us normal people, cost of living would be a consideration if choosing between the two states. Gas prices, drinks/entertainment expenses, etc. are higher in LA.

It's not that straight forward. The tax rates in those countries include federal taxes as well. The question is, what do you get for your tax money?

Whatever, the kind of money these players are collecting is astronomical anyway.
