Every quote from Terry in that article:

“The word from (the Mavs) is they want me back,” Terry said. “But there have been no negotiations whatsoever.

“It’s on them. I’m going to let them make the decision.”

“I love what we accomplished in Houston, and they’re going to have a chance,” Terry said of his free agent prospects. “They’re going to come to the table, also, so my options are open.”

“He’s a hell of a talent,’’ Terry said. “I think for years to come he’s going to be a dominant presence in the middle and he’s going to be good for the Mavericks.”

“Mark already said whatever I want to do in the future he’s open to it, so I’m going to hold him to his word,” Terry said. “Mark has done a great job with that over his tenure here with the Mavericks.

"He hired Michael Finley, Popeye Jones and Avery Johnson. Mark makes it a point to take care of his guys, and you’ve got to respect that.”

“My goal is to play two years and then to make my transition into coaching after the second year. And that’s what I want to do — wherever I’m at.”

I see no definitive statements by him in the article. I certainly wouldn't doubt that he'd love to be back in Dallas, but I'm not fully trusting of an article by a Dallas beat writer where none of the quotes actually support the article's main claim.

I'd rather have Prigioni than Terry anyway if we're talking about 3rd PG.

Prigs can shoot almost as well as Terry, but he's ten times the passer. Good locker room presence, hustles on every play. This is not a young team, Terry's locker room presence shouldn't be a significant factor anymore.

Either way, we need to land a better PG, preferably before training camp.

me too. The problem is that Prigs is not an option beause he is retiring from the NBA anyway.

Not really. He's not the lights out shooter he once was, but he can still knock down open 3's. He's still a good fit for our team and a good locker room presence.

I disagree on Terry's locker room presence. This team is still too young at leadership. There was still lots of on-court frustration when someone missed their assignment. Terry is an actual veteran voice that stabilizes those mini tantrums. Ariza is not as vocal or rather, he's not as calm as Terry. Plus, Terry is a jolt of offense off the bench. IMO, he is a much better shooter than Prigs.

Sounds likely but not certain that he won't be in the NBA next year.

Morey doesn't need to bring Terry back. He wasn't very good by the end of the season and there are many balls in play that we do not even know about.

Looks like Terry's not saying but he could have been offered a coaching position with the Mav's once he's retired and that's gotta be enticing for him to want to go back as well.

I think he was brought in as spot up shooter for special situations and who would have thought he was going to be the starting PG for a team that ends up going to the WCF. I hope the rockets resign him and he doesn't go to their rival the Mavericks. The team needs his locker room presence.

I wasn't making it up when I said KJ was an elite shot blocker. He's 7 years younger and he finishes at the rim better because he dunks everything.

Exactly. Brewer is a nice piece, but he's a below average shooter who heavily relies on leaking out as his primary offense. I'm not saying KJ is Ray Allen from three. I know he's equally poor from behind the arc. He can be just as effective in transition because he's a better athlete.

I'll just chalk this up to, not many people watched him at Clemson and during the draft process, and I for sure know no one watched him in Philly.

I'd be thrilled if Terry went to Dallas. He's no longer an elite shooter, 1 year older and can't defend anyone.

Terry's value comes off the court. He is very good in the locker room.

Batman, I love Capela too but I was wondering if your opinion is just your own, or whether you've gotten a sense of how the FO views him from discussions with Morey? I assume you could talk about that because you've indicated that Morey likes TJones, for instance.

I disagree about trading Howard, though, unless we have information that his health is a lot worse than what is known. I think the reputational hit is too severe.

BTW one of the things I love about Morey and the FO is that, although they sometimes make mistakes or swing for the fences sometimes when settling might be better (like not choosing Leonard over Marcus Morris, or going for Bosh when they could have locked up Lowry for $12M/year), they recover really well when things don't plan out and move on from mistakes really quickly and have lots of contingencies in place. That's why I always reserve judgment on Morey moves, because he has shown that he should always be given the benefit of the doubt and that even though he sometimes takes risks (or fails to take risks we might want him to take), they are always calculated ones.

I fear without a locker room presence and voice like Terry, there is potential for Harden and Howard to clash

I hope we keep him and offer him a position as physio / trainer. He is better than that fat lump with glasses who has never seen a gym

Purely my opinion. And the last time Daryl and I talked at length about TJ it was at the beginning of last season. I wouldn't have shared the info if it hadn't been old enough not to be relevant anymore.

To be clear, I don't want to trade Howard. AT ALL. By saying I'd sooner part with Dwight than Capela I was only speaking to how strongly I feel about Capela. Dwight is untouchable as far as I'm concerned too. I mentioned him to illustrate the radical nature of how badly I want to hold onto CC. To me those are our three most important players. I'd put D-Mo and Ariza right behind them but I would be willing to part with those two guys in the right trade. There isn't a realistic Capela trade that would make me happy. That was really all I was saying.

If my take had been influenced by anything Morey told me I wouldn't have posted it.

I actually like Keith Jones alot. No need to make personal slights at someone who does so much for the orginization without being in the spotlight.
