Yeah when you are in win now mode you gotta do what you gotta do. Sitting back saying next year could cause us to miss out on championship years or just a year as you seen last year.
Eesh. Someones Tampon needs changing. Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a right to agree or disagree. Morey has done an excellent job with this roster. Has he made some mistakes. Yes. He is human. Do you expect him to get out of the boat and walk on Lake Conroe? Sure seems like it. Hell you wouldn't be happy if he did. Last person that walked on water was crucified. Are you already sizing Morey up for his cross?

yes. That's the way Doc Rivers GM operates and it's why his team is devoid of assets. Because he sold everything off to fill immediate needs instead of waiting for the right opportunity. Result: championship window closed too soon.
Well it also tells you something about what they see about the Point Guard position entirely, and what is valued about them in the NBA game... or potentially overvalued about them and what they do. I can't tell you exactly what it is, but there is something there that is telling them that this is a position you should stay away from overspending on. Harden probably has alot to do with their research on the topic. If I had to guess it probably has something to do with another PG that takes away possessions and touches from Harden. There is probably data that shows you are better off going with Harden over-usage and playing a style of play that doesn't require a PG with the bench unit then you are having a player there that will take shots, and possessions away from Harden just to take pressure off of Harden. You'd rather Harden have to do everything than have Harden do less, and someone like Mo Williams/I Thomas do more in the offense. Then you factor in the defensive impact and you probably have a no-brainer decision to stick with a Terry/Bev/Prigioni. If Nick Johnson can start sticking 3's than he's probably considered a perfect fit as well. That's just a guess though. We probably need someone like AElliott to do a little more analytical research on this topic. There is too much smoke there to not have a burning house on the block.
Not surprised he's playing. I am surprised he's willing to do it for less than 3 mil though. Not to take anything away from the Spurs organization, but it sure helps when you can somehow convince your All-Star(and former All-Star) players to sign for a fraction of what they're used to making. They're gonna need him too. Right now their bench is Manu, Mills, Diaw, and Anderson. Last season they relied heavily on Belinelli, Bonner, Baynes, and Joseph who are all gone.
he will get vet min? The contrast between spurs and cavs : their stars taking paycuts - the star is blackmailing the organisation to pay every role player huge money before he resigns. I think the Spurs will find underutilised players and build their bench back.
Dear Diary, If Darell Moray doesn't get the PG I want than Les should fire everyone and move the team to Waco cause he sucks and he never will build a WINNER. I don't care if we made the Western Conference finals and lost to the runaway champion. He is dumb and I hate him because I love Dragic.
I can see the frustration where this guy is coming from, just have to be more constructive with how you express that frustration. I want the Rockets to win big and there are times I wonder if Morey has the chops to put the finishing touches on a roster or when does he really consider a roster ready for contention. As a fan, you hope the people in charge make the right decisions and more often than not Morey has so give the man time. Upgrades exist and there are things Morey knows now or can reasonably predict that'll effect whatever moves he makes that we'll never know until way after the fact. I have to say that even with all of the scrutiny and insane hours, I do envy the man and would trade my job for his in a heartbeat.
I think Bima said the Spurs can give him no more than 2.8 mil. Maybe they'll find a way to get him a bigger contract than that, but right now they have very little wiggle room. Duncan's already taking a paycut himself from the 10 mil he got last year(which itself was a bargain deal). I'm not gonna criticize LeBron and the rest of the Cavs for wanting to get paid. Most of those guys have never gotten a big contract before. Or in the case of Love, an even bigger contract. I just find it remarkable that the Spurs can convince Duncan, Manu, and even Parker(he averages 14.5 mil over the next 3 years) to take so much less money. They'll find other players to fill out that bench, but there's no way they can replace the aforementioned guys. It'll be up to Manu, Mills, and Diaw for the most part to carry the load. That's gonna be asking a lot. Diaw will be 34 before the playoffs start next year. And I was wrong about Manu's age, BTW. He's already 37. He'll actually be turning 38 in about 3 weeks.
I've been very patient. But my patience are running out. Dwight's declining, our championship window is closing. We should be more aggressive now. But What Morey has done is very disappointing. Spending the MLE on some unproven players. Wasting our roster spots on some unproven young guys like Ish Smith while Rodney Stuckey was available at minimum. So you actually admitted he did not take risk. What you just said is exactly his biggest problem. He is always afraid of giving out lengthy contracts. Take Dragic as an example, he refused to re-sign him because of his "player option" which Morey thought would make him "untradeable". But as long as the players are at the right price, the length of the contract is not really a problem. Dragic ended up being underpaid and Phoenix got 2 1st round picks out of him. Even if you want cap space to go for the big fish in the future, you can always unload them easily as long as they're positive trade assets. Spurs did it this year. We did it last year. I just want Morey to re-think his strategy. We missed a lot of good players because of that. We could have gotten Courtney Lee and Brandon Bass back in 2013. Those guys are solid players who could have helped us but instead we gotten a draft pick for Asik and have to wait years for Dekker to develop. Is this the right strategy when we're in win-now mode.
You can't critisize Lebron who refuses to resign until his agent/himself's client gets signed a MAX? We are talking about Tristan Thompson not some up and coming star. They will find something the Spurs. I can bet on it.
